Chapter 239

What's next?
Just making sure.
There were two cars parked outside my house. One was my mother’s, the other… A shiny, white, luxury sports car I could recognize anywhere.
I went into the house, greeted mom and knelt to pet Cake as she came running down the stairs to greet me. I went up to the second floor and saw that the door to Isabelle’s room was wide open.
Mila and Noelle were in there with her.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, baffled.
“I invited them over after we left the coffee shop,” Isabelle answered, shrugging casually.
“Sorry for the intrusion,” Noelle said, though she had a very amused smile on her face.
“So that’s why she ran away!” Mila laughed. She had Cake’s brush in her hand. “I was brushing Cake and she suddenly bolted out of the room.”
Cake herself was now rubbing herself against my legs, tail high as she purred.
“She’s obsessed with him,” Isabelle said, crossing her arms in a pout. “Makes me jealous.”
“He fed her directly during her first month, right?” Noelle said. “Of course she’s attached.”
I sighed. “She didn’t hiss at you or anything?” I asked Mila.
“Nope.”
“She’s maturing,” Isabelle said.
“No, she just loves the brush a little too much,” I clarified. I picked Cake up, holding her by the armpits. “She’s still a spoiled cat,” I told Cake directly.
Cake’s meow almost felt like she was shamelessly answering “Yes, and?”
“I need to get changed,” I said, putting Cake down on the floor again.
“Want me to help?” Mila offered teasingly.
You know… That should’ve taken me by surprise, but it didn’t. “No thanks. I’m a big boy.”
I went into my room with a stupid smile on my face. I love that girl so much. I just hoped that didn’t make Noelle uncomfortable.
I changed from my work clothes to sweatpants and a black T-shirt. I scowled. Even my biggest T-shirts were starting to feel tight. Not enough to have to throw them away, but enough that I didn’t have anything that was a loose fit anymore. It really was time to change form S to M.
…
From S size to M size. Get your mind out of the gutter for a change.
There was a knock on my door. I went to answer it and found Mila and Noelle there. “Where’s Isabelle?” I asked.
“She went to the bathroom,” Noelle told me.
Cake walked past between our legs and jumped on my desk, laying there. It got a chuckle out of all of us.
“Well… Come in,” I offered.
Both girls silently sat on my bed while I got my school uniform out of my gym bag and put it away in my closet. The silence was heavy and awkward all of a sudden. I couldn’t have that.
“Isabelle wasn’t a pain, I hope?”
“Not at all,” Mila assured, smiling. “We got her to tell us stories about you.”
I flinched. “I’m sure you have more topics to talk about other than me.”
“But you never tell stories about yourself,” Mila said.
“I don’t have anything interesting to tell.”
“She told us about the time you gave her the card she wanted,” Noelle said. “That you refused to sell it and gave it to her.”
“Card?” What card? “Oooh, right… Wait, that was like ten years ago.”
“She still has it. She showed it to us.”
“So you’ve always been like that, huh?” Mila said. She turned to Noelle. “Can I tell you how I started noticing him?”
Noelle’s cheeks reddened, but she nodded with surprising eagerness.
“I was getting bullied by a group of girls during freshman year. They stole my backpack during recess and threw it on the roof of the gym shed. By the time I got a janitor to help me get it, Oliver had already gotten it down.” Mila giggled. “He gave it to me without a word and ran away.”
Noelle laughed with Mila. “That sounds like him.”
“Right?”
Hearing that story again was embarrassing.
“When did you start liking Oliver?” Mila bluntly asked the redhead.
Noelle’s eyes widened and even my own chest tightened. Leave it to Mila to go and shamelessly ask the hard questions.
“Um…” Noelle fidgeted and nervously glanced at me. “I always thought that we… had a lot in common, but… since he didn’t speak, I thought he just wanted to be alone.”
“Yeah, I get you.” Mila crossed her arms and nodded. “I think I told you before. For the longest time I couldn’t decide if he was just super shy or just creepy. I couldn’t make up my mind, so it took me way too long to get together with him.”
“It was only recently that I started to think that… I really, really wanted to be with him. I couldn’t tell you the exact moment, but…”
“Hey, can I ask you two a favor?” Mila asked, glancing from Noelle to me.
“Hm? S-Sure…?” Noelle answered.
“I’d like to watch you two kiss.”
Noelle’s eyes went wide, but I somehow expected this.
“B-But… Are you sure?”
“The reason we had to convince Oliver to ask you and Alice out in the first place was because we found the thought of him with other girls… exciting. Please? I need to confirm we weren’t… wrong.”
Noelle pursed her lips and looked down at her knees.
{B-But what if she WAS wrong? What if she doesn’t like it? Will Oliver pick them over me?}
I could understand Noelle’s anxiety. Not only because I heard and felt her worries, but because I’d had those thoughts myself. Noelle wasn’t someone I could just give up on anymore, so if the girls found that they didn’t like me being with her and Alice, it would all fall apart.
Thankfully, this same mind-reading kept assuring me again and again that it wasn’t a random whim. It was a deeply-rooted desire shared by Mila, Grace and Sarah.
I closed the door to my room and turned to Noelle. I offered her my hand, and though she hesitated at first, she took it and stood up. Just looking at her face warmed my chest and made me feel tingly. She was gorgeous. I cupped her cheek and stared into her eyes, trying my hardest to convey to her that I wouldn’t pick other girls over her, and that I also wouldn’t pick her over other girls.
They were all mine, and I wouldn’t choose. Even if I had to give up on everything else for the rest of my life, this was the one thing I’d never compromise on. I knew that my own soul would never forgive me if I did.
I held her close, with a hand on the back of her head. Noelle’s lip quivered with anticipation. She closed her eyes and lightly leaned forward. I met her lips in a passionate kiss from the get-go. I slid my tongue inside her mouth and she welcomed me gladly, going weak in the knees as she held onto me.
Noelle’s lips were as sweet as ever. We’d only been together a few days and I already couldn’t live without this taste. Kissing her felt so, so right. Noelle was generally less vocal than the others, but her moans still came out.
The kiss got me going. I wanted more. I wanted to push Noelle on my bed and have Mila join us, but Mom was downstairs and Isabelle would be back any minute. I had to keep it short.
I pulled away and kept my eyes on Noelle for a moment. She looked dizzy, flustered and adorable. I turned to Mila, who was pressing her legs tightly together, fidgeting and grinning from ear to ear.
“The three of us HAVE to go on a date one of these days,” she said.
I smiled and looked at Noelle to see what she thought.
She blinked, smiled shyly, but answered confidently. “I think I’d like that a lot.”
My heart was at the point of bursting. I love these girls so damn much it’s insane.
