Regina’s doll

“I want Kelly”, Regina said point blank.

Mark was surprised. “Really, I thought you two were best friends?”

“We were…until recently. We have become more and more distant since…I…uhhh….”

“Since you….”, Mark said trying to lead her on.

“Since I asked her out”, Regina said sheepishly.

“Since you…oh. I take it she was not into that?”

“Nope. Straight as an arrow”, Regina said while looking at her feet. “She tried to let me down easy, but seems like she has been avoiding me since.”

“Ahh. Katie’s track friend was like that. She’s frozen now.”

Regina’s eyes widened. “So you’ll do it.”

Mark stammered. “I didn’t say that. We need to make sure there is a good excuse for her disappearing. We always make sure they’re one unless it’s an emergency.”

Regina scoffed. “You did it for Katie. Besides, Kelly only lives with her Mom, her dad left a long time ago. You freeze both of them, and I start a rumor that she moved away.”

Mark looked at his sister quizzically. “You sure you didn’t know earlier? That’s a rather intricate plan for on the spot thinking?”

“Hey, it s called soccer skills”, Regina said pounding her chest. “You have to think on your feet.”

“Fine I’ll do it as long as Kelly is 18, and if you promise to do well in school. I made that mistake when I got my powers.”

“Her birthday is next week, and I have to do well in school to get recruited to a university or the national team.”

“Then next week, you get a Kelly doll”, Mark said with a sense of finality.

Regina hugged her brother. “Oh thank you, thank you, thank you”, she said real fast.

“Ok, ok”, Mark said awkwardly as he patted his sister. “Let’s unfreeze Katie and tell her the plan. Oh by the way, she has a job offer for you.”

Regina looked at him with surprise on her brows. “What’s the job?”

“I’ll let her explain”, Mark said. “Let’s head back to the living room.”
