CH1: Quality Time

On the way to the cafeteria all I hear is my friend geek about the battle we saw. “Man, so… now the Retreaters have two shotguns and an **** rifle! That’s so good for them! But if it wasn’t for that tall girl with the shotgun! Oh man! I wonder if anyone is as good as her!” She seems really happy. All I can think is how Lorelei won’t be getting her treatment now. I don’t even know what her case was. All I know is that I wouldn’t want to be in her shoes.

We reach the cafeteria and it’s just a big open area. There’s nothing there. Just some tables and chairs. We start looking and it’s quickly obvious that the actual cafeteria is empty and it’s not even worth looking over. “How about the kitchen?” I ask as Grace is busy practicing quick-drawing with her pistol. “Hello? Earth to Grace?” I ask cheekily and she snaps out of it and follows me. My friend seems to really be into the game. For now I can’t quite enjoy it the same way. Every second I’m worried somebody will just end mine with a lucky shot from somewhere and it’s all over for me. The kitchen is also marked with green, symbolizing that it’s also a safe zone, just like the bathrooms on the second floor. There’s not a lot of these here. This is just the second one.

We look over the kitchen and find that it’s looted of all the lower level boxes. But there are a couple blue ones which we open. “A freaking shotgun! Look!” Grace shows as I am putting some ammo on my belt.” Right… well… you can’t use that with your pistol, so what are we going to do with it?” The shotgun is a two handed gun. We noticed that some guns won’t work if both hands aren’t on the weapon. Some, like the pistol and the submachine gun only need one hand though. “Ehh, you take it. I am good with the pistol.” She smirks and gives the big gun to me. She looks to be waiting for something and I realize she means my old gun. “Ugh, whatever, here.” I give her my submachine gun I found but didn’t even get to use. “So what? Are you seriously going to use both?” I ask a little amused and she shows me how she holds them. It looks silly like this but technically she can use each with just one hand.

“Try the shotgun! I wanna see the spread!” She says excitedly and I sigh and shoot the wall. There’s a whole lot of small dots on the wall in a pretty wide spread. “Ok… I guess now you can hit something at least.” She smirks and I point the gun at her and pout: “Uh huh? Think I can hit all the lasers on that wide frame of yours?” She laughs and I feel better too.

“So… what do you think of the game? I mean, so far?” She asks clearly excitedly and I shrug: “I don’t know. It’s kinda… violent.” She looks at me smirking: “You are such a lady! What? Do you still play with dolls? This is what real life is about! Real life action!” She makes a cute action pose with her guns and suddenly she doesn’t look so ridiculous with them anymore. “I mean… I don’t know. I guess it’s fair at least? If you want to win, you have to do something about it. And also… I kinda like that it’s just us people here.” I smile carefully and Grace looks a little playful as she gets closer to me.

“What do you mean? Do you like to look at the bulges of these girls here or what?” I am not sure why I said that and feel my face turning red: “No! N-nothing like that! I just mean… I mean it’s nice to just… you know… you don’t often find yourself with so many people l-like you…” I lean on a kitchen counter and feel silly. Why did I make it about futa people? I’m a total klutz. “You mean… girls with problems down there, huh? That’s why we are all here, right?” Suddenly Grace looks thoughtful and I feel a little unsure what to think of the situation.
