Two Steps Back

Nothing happened again for another two months. Part of that was Douglas's fault. The trial was stressful, and he started keeping late nights and early days. But part of it seemed to be that Elizabeth's interest waned in the subject.

In truth, she was conflicted. She liked how hard it made him, and how wet it made her. But she was deathly afraid of disturbing their dynamic. She had a good thing going, and temptation could be a fast road to a bad ending.

She prayed on it. She tried to keep her days focused on raising Emily and Aaron, and workouts and tennis with friends. But occasionally, she'd get home and look at that hard drive. Chock full of the porn that her husband liked to watch. And she'd have that weak moment of hesitation.
