A familiar face

Chapter 36 by GamerChick077 GamerChick077

Leaving the house was more fun than getting in. I just turned the water into ice and slid across it. Tank did so too.

Glaze thought we were both idiots. When we out, two demons appeared before us. The creatures lunged straight for me.

On reflex I summoned the Chainsaword to guard, holding it in front of me to prepare for a blow.

But the strike never came.

Instead, the demons were swiftly killed by a familiar face. He was holding a katana blade. The person himself had black swept back hair. He wore a long black coat, grey fingerless gloves, black pants and black boots.

Duncan?!

He looked like Duncan but with cat ears and a cat tail.

The sword and outfit completely fit with the kinda characters Duncan liked to create in Soul Calibur 5, Soul Calibur 6, Nioh 2, Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet, Dragon's Dogma and Saints Row 4.

When I returned to Fantasy World, the last thing he expected was to bump into my brother. But could it really be him?

The weapon was definitely cool, and it was good to know that Duncan had a way to defend himself.

"There you are, Felix! What's going on?"

"Duncan!" I said.

Glaze looked at both of us and raised a brow. She circled around Duncan and groaned, "Hey, who's this?"

I darted right up to Duncan. Once I came close enough, I grabbed onto Duncan's cheeks and gave them a nice, firm, tug.

"Felix, what are you..." Duncan squirmed, pushing my hands away, "Hey, hey, cut it out!"

I stepped away from Duncan, "Sorry about that! I guess I kinda got carried away… But it's really you, right? I'm not dreaming this, right?"

"I hope not," Duncan said, "Took forever to find you."

I found Duncan. Finally! Now I just needed to find Dawn.

"Good to see you too, Felix."

This time, Tank stepped forward, "Felix, is yer brother?"

"Brother?" Glaze crossed her arms and circled Duncan briefly, coming to a stop right back where she started, "In that case, maybe you could try and talk some sense into him. Felix's been causing a load of trouble lately."

"Duncan!" I said, "Do you know where Dawn is?"

"I thought... Isn't she with you?" Duncan asked.

"No..."

"Well, don't worry. I'm sure she made it to reincarnation, too. Hey, she might be looking for us now," All of a sudden, I saw a demon appear behind Duncan. Duncan didn't seem to notice, as he continued to speak, "We'll all be together again soon. Don't worry. Just leave everything to me. Someone has to pick up your slack."

In one smooth move, I cleaved the leaping demon in two. Duncan's voice stopped short, as he turned to see.

I smiled and leaned the Chainsaword back over my shoulder, "Leave it to who...?"

Duncan appeared taken aback, "So where've you been all this time?"

"Where haven't I been?" I said, "After we died, I reincarnated here."

"Who are they?" Duncan asked.

"Ahem. My name is--" Glaze said.

"We've visited so many places and worlds, looking for you and Dawn," I interjected. Glaze gave me a deadpan glance but I chose to ignore it.

"Really?" Duncan leaned back, "Well, what do you know? I never would have guessed."

"Oh, and guess what?" this time it was Tank that spoke, with her hands on my shoulders like a proud parent, "Felix's the reincarnation of King Felix."

"Who would've thought it?" Glaze shrugged. I squirted at her.

"What's that mean!" I snapped back, "Remember that Chainsaword?"

I showed Duncan my Chainsaword. Duncan's change in demeanour was instantaneous. His gaze never left the Chainsaword.

Duncan nodded, "Yeah, definitely! You used that to fight the demons?"

"Exactly," I said, "Apparently I'm the reincarnation of their King."

Duncan, sighed, looking me over, "So you're a hero now! Listen, my new mother, Hera, she has a way to find Dawn. But I need you to not interfere-"

"Hera? The one who had Cerberus attack me?" I asked.

"If you just stay out her way-"

"I don't think she has your or Dawn's best interests. You can come with us, right?" I asked, "We've got this awesome spaceship! Wait 'til you see it!"

Glaze's head snapped back in my direction, "Hey! Who said you get to decide?!"

"What?!" I whipped around to face the red oni. "Are you kidding me? Why not?"

"Forget it!" Glaze said.

Why did Glaze always have to be like this?

"Oh, come on!" I protested, "He's my brother!"

"I! Don't! Care!" Glaze crossed her arms and looked away.

"Huh? He's gone!" Tank exclaimedd.

The words pulled me out of my argument. It was true. Duncan was gone. He had just... vanished. I looked around spinning in place, moving to where Duncan used to be standing, "Duncan? Where did he go? Nice going. I still had so much to ask him. And if he's with Hera..."
