Chapter 344 by lew54321 lew54321

Any last minute preparations?

Full speed ahead

You unpacked your bag once back in the room and took only the bare essentials that you thought you would need before you all headed for the car.

Emma grabbed the snacks and Grace also took a bag out of her case that looked like she had preplanned but you couldn’t tell what the contents of it were. She asked you to put the bag at the side of you in the back of the car instead of in the trunk but you didn’t want to go looking through the bag while Grace could easily see you.

The car was fast approaching your destination again and that same feeling of nervousness came over you that had before but you managed to push it down and keep yourself calm.

The journey felt like a bit of a blur but while you were in your own head, the car stopped and you were already there before you even realised it. This time, Grace had gone past the house and parked further down the road, on the opposite side of the street where you could still barely see the house out of the back window.

Luckily you could also see the car still in the driveway and the front yards of all the houses were pretty open plan, letting you see pretty much everything without any fences or hedges getting in the way.

“So what’s the plan now?” Emma asked, unbuckling her seatbelt as she turned around the face you fully.

“Well, we wait until we either spot someone coming out of the house or spot anything at all in the house until we all get bored. Not the most glamorous way to spend a Saturday but, you know” you said, shrugging your shoulders at the situation you had put yourself in.

You checked the time on your phone and it was only a little before 9 am, still slightly early in the day if someone had plans to go out but that might just be your own wishful thinking. Now also seemed to be the right time to check the tracker on the KDK and while the distance did say that your father was in the house, the number was changing, letting you know that he was at least now awake and walking around.

You suspected Emma was going to be the first to get bored and almost immediately she rolled her window down slightly to let some fresh air into the car and lowered her seat so that she could turn and lie down more comfortably, rolling over onto her stomach. You decided to do something similar and leaned against one of the doors and put your legs up onto the back seats, letting you see both Grace and Emma as well as having a better view out the back window.

It did also give you a better view of Emma’s cleavage from the way she was laid down but you kept that piece of information to yourself.

From the essentials you had brought with you, you did include the pair of binoculars that you had debated bringing in the first place, reaching into your bag and giving a brief look over to the house with them before putting them on the seat at the side of you. The brief glance didn’t show you anything new but you would probably wait until you actually saw some movement normally first.

“Ah you brought some too” Grace spoke up, motioning to the bag she had brought that was now on the back seat with you.

“Do you mind if I…” you started to ask.

“No, go ahead. It’s all for this weekend anyway” Grace replied, giving you free rein to go through what she had brought.

The first thing you spotted right on top of the rest of the stuff was another pair of binoculars that brought a smile to your face. Great minds think alike and all that. The rest showed that Grace had been a lot more prepared for this than you would have ever thought.

The video camera was there which you were supposed to have asked her about and forgotten was sitting there along with a full tripod setup that you couldn’t see the use for. There was some sort of electronic device you couldn’t quite figure out and what looked to have been another tracker of her own, stuff that you couldn’t help but hold up to Grace when you got a bit confused about the uses today.

“Oh, yeah the motion sensor” Grace said as you held up the unidentified device first, “I got a bit paranoid when I was going through my own marriage troubles. Well I guess if I was right you can't say I was paranoid can you” Grace continued, chuckling to herself as she took the sensor off of you and examined it.

“I wanted to see who was entering and leaving the house to see if there were more people or just movements at weird timings” Grace said, without you prompting further.

“That’s the first I’ve heard of that!” Emma replied, snatching the sensor out of her hands to take a look for herself.

“Oh come on, this was years ago, you and Max were just teenagers and staring at each other when you thought the other wasn’t looking” Grace said, embarrassing Emma and getting you as collateral damage.

“Besides, seemed he was smart enough to not bring anyone home anyway so it wasn’t up for long. That’s where the tracker came in” Grace explained, nodding to the tracker you were still holding.

There were a few more electronics in the bag that you had no idea what they were, assuming this was just a bag of things Grace had used for her ex-husband but you didn’t want to pull everything out to make her explain what they were for and potentially relive any old memories that she had put behind her.

You did see some accessories, a baseball cap and some sunglasses that must have been a quick disguise of Grace’s. You doubted it would work but you put the cap on Emma’s head while she messed with her phone and placed the sunglasses next to her. You also moved the bag of snacks to a place all three of you could easily grab from now that you were in it for the long haul.

Grace was the only one currently who didn’t have a good view of the house while she was in the driver's seat, facing the wrong direction to take a clear look and all she could really do was angle the rear view mirror or use the side mirror if she didn’t want to twist herself awkwardly.

The last thing you noticed before you settled down and actually started paying attention to the house was that Emma let her arm closest to you dangle down at the side of the seat closest to you, wiggling her fingers when you noticed where she had positioned herself. You let your fingers interlock with hers and while Grace couldn’t see from where she was, you didn’t think she would mind just some handholding.

With that, you let out a sigh, and finally the long wait began.

Any changes in the car?
