Does she know?
“I do not know yet,” Kaya said.
“I have not had time to have my cycle. That will probably be next weekend,” she said.
Jan blinked. “Wait, you don’t know we have tests for that kind of thing?” she asked as she turned the water off.
“What kind of thing?” Steve asked.
“Pregnancy tests,” Jan said, and Steve stopped, “It’s too early for that, isn’t it?”
Jan shrugged, “I don’t know; human and Mythfolk physiology isn’t quite the same.”
Kaya broke into the conversation. “Sorry, are you telling me you have a way to test to see if I am pregnant?”
Jan nodded, “Pregnancy tests can be taken about a week to ten days after fertilisation and can be pretty accurate.”
Kaya smiled, “Well, it has only been a few days, but maybe I can come over the day you get back from being with my father and see then?”
Steve nodded, “I would love that,” he said. “Oh, I just realised, Jan, how will we explain my getting Kaya pregnant to our family?”
Jan laughed as she dried her body, “I’m possibly going to be giving birth to a centaur. I think telling them we have a girlfriend would be a good icebreaker before that bombshell.” She then tussled her hair in the towel.
In the meantime, Kaya was drying the areas she could reach of her body while Steve dried the places she couldn’t. “Come on inside, I dragged the main bed mattress into the living room so that we will have a more comfortable bed tonight.”
Jan smiled at Kaya, “Kaya mentioned you might not want to put that gate in,” she said as she walked inside, “Instead, we might like to consider moving into a new place with Kay and Gen.”
Steve stopped as Kaya said. “It would be like herd life back home; after all, Gen will father a child in this house, and you will father a child in my parents’ home.”
Steve blinked several times, “We are about to get married, have our first children, and now you are talking about moving?”
Jan shrugged, “I know it’s a lot, but you also know we always said we would like to move somewhere without stairs when our first child crawls. And our stairs are not very good for our girlfriend with hooves.”
Steve laughed, “Well, let’s talk tomorrow, and we would need to discuss it with Gen and Kay; they only just moved in.”
Jan smiled, “Not Kaya?” she asked.
Steve turned to look at Kaya, “I guess I just thought she would move in with us at some point.”
Kaya smiled, “There is no rush, but I would like that.”
Slowly the trio settled onto the bed; Steve had brought some pillows and a blanket in and warped it around Jan and Kaya as Jan leaned back into her chest. “God, you two look incredible together,” he said.
They cuddled for some time before settling in to sleep.
The next morning?
When Worlds Collide
High fantasy meets suburban drama
About every 500 years our plane of existence overlaps with another, during this time when these world collide beings from each world can travel to the other through rifts. The world in question contains all those fantasy creatures which are so well known to us. Collectively they are known as Mythfolk individually they are the Elves, Centaurs, Dwarves and Orcs. Countless creatures from this other world, this other place. All evidence of this happening was destroyed during the dark ages, but now it is happening again. This time however we are more advanced than last time, this time we are more accepting of differences. So this time, some of these creatures have started to migrate here, to our world. This is the story of two humans who live in a quiet neighbourhood and what happens when some fantastical neighbours move in.
