You visit his wife

Strangely, you have the feeling that Sir Trindon isn't in the room. When you open the door slowly, you find his wife, Abigail, in a nightgown, sitting at the bed, looking as if she was expecting you. Closing the door behind you, you approach and sit near her.

"Good night, my nephew. I assume you have read the book?" Abigail asked.

"As suspected, it is you." You have an inkling of the sender since to have access to the book, it has to be someone close to him. "So what do you expect me to do with the information? Get rid of him?"

"That's not my intention. It is an insurance to protect us from him, although I don't think it will come to that."

"Your husband is a very competent man, with a very big flaw."

"He admitted as such many times. His biggest vice, he says, since he's loyal and incorruptible in other areas."

You can't help feeling cynical. "Even if someone offered him a woman for a favor?"

"He preferred to buy his own, if you notice." Upon seeing your incredulous look, Abigail nodded. "Trindon insisted in those kind of things so that it will not influence his judgement in other areas. Your father and brother fail to realize that aspect of him which is why those things happened."

From what you understand, Sir Trindon is an upstanding man in the public eyes with a huge sexual appetite. Even then, he toes the line, not accepting sexual favors. In return, he demanded to be given a free reign to fulfill his sexual urge, as long as it wouldn't go against his principle of not wanting be involved in corruption. If that free reign wasn't given, he would do anything to get the permission, or if needed, get rid of the person who deny him that. In a way, you get to be the king because of your father and brother's inflexibility and as long as you adhere to the bargain, Sir Trindon wouldn't be a thorn in your side. "You're okay with this?

"I can't say about my daughter, but I'm willing to go through it as long as the country can remain at peace."

"Thank you," you say, touched at her selflessness.

Before you can say anything else, Abigail suddenly embraces and kiss you.
