Study

The wolf familiar that delivered my package opens the wooden box with its teeth. It sets the lid aside before the books float in the air. They move a few feet forward and gently fall to the ground. The wolf places the lid back on before letting out a quiet howl and disappearing. I walk over to the books and look around. It's now I realized that I don't have anywhere to put these. My Guildsmaster office only has a few decorative plants and my desk. I cast Craft and take out some wood. I spend ten Magic Wood to make a bookshelf. I could've made it with normal wood, but I have much more Magic Wood than normal wood. I decide to make two of them and place them against the wall to the right of my desk. I take the stack of books over to the bookshelf and start putting them in. I select five of them to start reading and take them to my desk. I doubt I can get through even one today, but I want to leave them out for later. I open it and start reading. I'm starting with some books about Guilds and how they interact with one another. I get about a third of the way through it before Irene walks in. She has a bit of some bedhead and looks tired.

"Hey Irene, can I help you with something?" I ask while setting my book down.

"No, sorry. I'm just looking for the kitchen Asami told me about. Sorry for interrupting." She replies and I smile before standing up.

"It's fine, and here, let me show you where it is." I say while placing a bookmark in the book before standing up.

"Thank you. What book were you reading? Also was that your office?" She asks as I start leading the way to the kitchen.

"Yes, that's my office. I'm still trying to figure out how I want it. But the book was about the Guilds. It explains how they interact with one another and how they handle conflicts. It's something I need to study up on."

"Yeah, that sounds important. While I have you here, I do have a question for you." Irene asks before pausing, and I motion for her to continue. "What kind of work would you have me doing here? I know your Guild helped with the Katorg and Lich King, but now that those are over I'm not sure what I'll be doing."

"I have a few ideas for now, but it'll depend on how you like the Guild and the others. Firstly, I'd like you to help teach some of the newer members. I'm not too good at teaching magic, Liz is the only other person who could teach that." I say before Irene chuckles.

"Really? I thought you could use multiple Schools of Magic. Wouldn't that make you the perfect teacher?" She asks and I shrug. "Speaking of, do you really not know why you can use multiple Schools?" Irene asks and I shake my head.

"No, although I think it might have something to do with me being a Half-Devil." I say causing her to nod. We couldn't hide my being able to use multiple Schools forever, so Liz came up with this idea. Verona reported to the government that she thought this as well, so no one questioned it too much. "Anyway, the second thing I'd have you doing is Dungeon clearing. This would be with Luna, Innu, or I. Although, if you're good at teaching, I might have you take some of the newer Lyna into a weaker Dungeon." I say causing her to smile. "Although, I do have a job for you coming up."

"What is it?" She asks curiously as we reach the kitchen. I can smell something good inside.

"It's a surprise, sorry." I say with a smile. She opens the door to the kitchen and I look inside. I find Asami cooking something in a large pot. The door rings a bell as it opens, causing Asami to turn to us.

"Irene, I'm glad you're up. Dinner's almost ready." Asami says with a smile.

"What are you making? Also, do you normally make dinner for the Guild?" Irene asks while stepping inside.

"Yep, and I'm making some chicken alfredo. I wasn't sure what you like, but I can whip something else up if you'd like."

"No, I like alfredo. Thank you."

"It's nothing. Also Irene, I thought of having us all eating together. That way you could meet and talk to everyone. But you're free to eat in your room if you'd rather." Asami says and Irene smiles a little nervously.

"Yeah, I'll eat in my room. Thanks though, but I only woke up because I was hungry. I'm sure I'll pass out again once I eat. But I'd to do that tomorrow, would that work?"

"Of course, I'll let the others know. Also, when you're done eating bring your dishes back down here. You can wait until tomorrow if you'd like. I'll be here making breakfast tomorrow too, so make sure to come by while it's still hot." Asami says while making a bowl for Irene. Irene takes it and thanks her before leaving the way we came. "Master, where were you?" Asami asks while making five more bowls.

"I was in my office. I decided to study up and bought some books." I reply while getting the silverware.

"Really? What are they about?" Asami asks while picking up the tray.

"They're about the history of the Lyna world and how the Guilds interact. I'm starting with how Guilds solve any conflicts between themselves and how they treat each other." I say before she disappears. I return to my Domain and help her set the table.

"I thought we were eating with Irene?" Liz asks upon seeing us return.

"She's still tired, so we'll do it tomorrow. It'll give us a chance to meet Marlo and his wife too. As long as they aren't tired from their trip." Asami says, and I nod in agreement. We gather the others before eating. Once we're done eating I go to sleep.
