14.1 Appetite

You spend a sleepless night tossing around in bed as you're filled with feelings of thirst and craving. When the sun rises the next day you feel exceptionally weak and drained. The doctor's words return to mind as you reluctantly acknowledge they must be followed soon. As ravenous as you currently are you know you'll have to wait until night falls to make your move. The sun's harsh rays haven't even reached their peak yet. You realize you forgot to mention this sudden sensitivity to natural light to the doctor, though you suppose now it can be chalked up to a symptom of your new form. That's what you believe until you recall the times you've seen the doctor out in full daylight. You make a mental note to question him about this during your next visit. For the time being you choose to spend your time devising a plan.

After all, you have no idea how to proceed. Where could you even go to find blood? Back to the hospital perhaps. You can only assume that is why Underwood has chosen his current profession. While using blood bags to feed is the preferable option it's also the more challenging. While you're not keen on harming anyone, you know taking on one person would be far easier than trying to infiltrate an entire building unnoticed. Particularly one that is staffed with personnel and security around the clock. You're increasingly torn as you weigh both options. You're aware that should you go with the latter option you can't do it in town. Not only are you particularly opposed to potentially injuring someone you know but given the small population any disappearance would be immediately noticed. Your best option in that regard would be making the drive to the nearest large city, Houston. You continue to consider each option until it reaches the early evening. You know you cannot stall any longer, whichever decision you go with will need its own plan in turn. It's time to make your choice.
