When Worlds Collide

"Do it, my minion. Bring me champions from every world we've been observing." the Multiversal Overlord said, his tone grave, his cloak so very black.

"Every... world, sire?" His most faithful servant asked, straightening his red suit and waistcoat. The multiverse was vast, dozens on dozen of worlds. Different times, different planets, different cultures. It was a dizzying mix!

"Every world!" the Overlord said with finality. "Let those we bring to New York City crowd the sidewalk and blot out the sky!"

"It may take some time, sire." the faithful servant said. "Even with the devices..."

"I do not leave it to you to question my design, only to bring me my multiversal champions!" the Overlord spat, radiating with a dark anger. "Unless... you require some convincing?"

A single sweatdrop glinted on the faithful servant's brow. "Heavens master, no, anything but that!" he gasped, adjusting his cufflinks.

"Then I will leave you to prepare." the Overlord said, traipsing off.

The faithful servant remained still, his head bowed, until his master was truly gone from sight.

"This is a lot to organise!" he said, almost to himself, as he picked up his dapper red fedora and affixed it to his head.

He would start with the Overlord's favourites, denizens of certain worlds in the vast and thrumming cosmos. His master did have certain... preferences, after all.

"Now," the faithful servant said, entering a room full of his subordinates. "Our work has truly begun! Come, let the chosen throughout the multiverse recieve our master's gift!"

On the table before him, hundreds of red silk parcels. Even know, emissaries of his master were depositing them throughout the multiverse. Once said packages had been delivered, the people in that universe would only have to open the light constructions. When they did, they'd suffer a blinding flash of light, and would soon find themselves in a city most unlike any they had ever seen before...
