The group continued on plundering the dungeon for its resources. On their journey they amassed a great amount of fortune much to their delight. However they were not the only ones who gained from this journey. Nia who had gotten the most physical with the monster and been 'gifted' something from her opponent. You see hiding in her hair undetected was small little worm, that had latched on to her the moment the monster had attacked her. It had remained, waiting, hiding, plotting its next move.
You see, the creature that fought them was not doing so out of its own violation. It couldn't, because its mind had long since been destroyed by this very worm that stowed away on her person. Now that its host was dead, it needed a new one, and it fortunate to how a volunteer in Nia. After all who better to finish replace the beast, than the girl who challenged it. So the creature remained silent as the humans did as the pleased.
Eventually the group had exited the dungeon, relieved that most of their troubles were over. They headed back to camp where the once again split up, to tend themselves. This was the perfect opportunity the worm realized. It watched as Nia parted with her friends before heading to the nearby creek to take a bath and wash out all the blood that had stained. As she begun to disrobe the creature used this as the perfect moment to dart straight into her ear.
"WHAT THE HECK?" Nia gasped in shock. She had been taken by surprise by the worm's actions and lost her footing, falling down. She tried to get her bearings and reach to whatever was crawling into her ear but she was too late. It was already inside.
Panic flowed through her body as she could feel the worm wiggling inside her skill. It was moving around in her head. Try as she might to feel it, it was right under her skin. In a moment of terror she tried to dig her nails into the skin where it was, in hope of digging it out, but her actions were useless. The worm had managed to move around her skull and was now at the base of skull, right where her skull and spine connected. The next thing Nia knew a sharp pain shot through her body and then everything went black.
