A double dinner date

"We should talk, perhaps a double date over dinner to help bury old feuds?" Peach suggests

Bowser "That sounds excellent. I already had reservations with one for Daisy and me. I'll have it changed."

He already had a romantic dinner planned for Daisy? Peach struggles to remember the last time Mario went out of his way to do that, normally it's dinner at her place and sometimes he even invites Luigi over.

With the plans set all the racers spend the day fine tuning their karts and bikes, and studying the track itself. Once they are finished with the karts they get ready for the double date, wearing casual clothes instead of the regular princess dress. Peach arrives at the restaurant first wearing one of her vacation outfits. It's a white blouse with some of the buttons undone, a short pink scarf with white dots, pink skirt and white heels. She takes a seat at the table. Soon after Bowser and Daisy arrive together. He is wearing a nice button up shirt & pants and he even combed his hair for this. Daisy is wearing a silk halter top and designer jeans.

"Hey Peach! You look great." Daisy greets her.

"As do you two. You both look lovely."

"Where is Mario? He running late again?" Bowser jokes.

Peach gives a polite chuckle. "I'm sure he will be here soon." They have a polite conversation as they eat the bread. Peach asking about their relationship and Daisy happy to answer. Bowser tells her about the new trade agreements between his kingdom and Sarasaland. Twice the waiter had come to take their order but Peach insisted they wait for Mario.

"Are you sure he didn't forget? Maybe you should call him." Daisy suggests. Peach agrees and leaves the table to phone him. She dials his number and waits for him to answer.

"Hello, princess?" Mario says upon answering.

"Hiya Mario, I just wanted to make sure you were on your way over. Were you stuck in traffic?" Peach asks him.

"Over for what?" He responds conufsed.

Peach flinches at hearing that again. "You know silly, our double date with Daisy and Bowser?" She asks, hopeful that there is a reasonable explanation.

"That was-a tonight? Oh no, I had completely forgotten. Luigi had won a voucher for the casino tonight and we are on a roll! How about we just reschedule?" He explains.

"Well no, they are already here an-" She tries answering him but is cut off.

"Okay great, buh-bye!" He says before hanging up.

Peach breaks her regal expression and scowls. "He forgot AGAIN!" She shouts before stopping herself and taking a few breaths to calm herself down. She can't believe he forgot a date AGAIN, and this one was supposed to be important. About putting to rest old feuds and instead he went gambling with his brother! Even Bowser showed up on time for crying out loud! She rants to herself for a minute.

She takes one more minute to calm herself before returning to the table. "I'm sorry but it appears he won't be joining us tonight. I apologize if this ruined the meal." Peach is about to leave them to enjoy supper on their own.

"Well hold on, just because he isn't here doesn't mean you have to go." Bowser tells her.

"Yeah the nights still young, we can have some fun." Daisy chimes in.

Of course none of this comes as a surprise to them. Under his orders Bowser's minions bribed the hotel so that Luigi would win the raffle they were having for the Kart racers. Daisy knew full well that the only person Luigi would invite is Mario and that Mario already has a history of getting distracted away from dates with Peach. The perfect plot to make Mario look worse and Bowser better.

From this point on they just make sure Peach has a good time. As the conversation goes on they even start making jokes about the past kidnappings. Peach has become comfortable around Bowser.
