Broadsword (Champion) (Chaotic Good)

What to expect: You've been sent on a religious mission, serving your Goddess and your fringe movement. It's also the first time you've been away from home; how well do you behave far away from the judging eyes of your family and Matriarch?

You slowly walked around the space, littered with so many weapons, most of which you don't have a proper name for, swords of a particular style or make you’d never seen before. You’d never seen so many in one place before, even if they had all been of the same thing. Had you not been spent so much of your formative years among soldiers, in and out of uniform, you’d likely have thought this place to be an armory. You knew from firsthand experience how a soldier thinks versus the civilians, the former tending to be more strictly organized and given to everything have a purpose and a reason. There was no such rhyme or reason here. Whoever owned this room and the menagerie of weapons and objects merely filled it however they could, cramming it haphazardly or placing things for their seeming aesthetic value. A true armory would have been organized, sorted, everything laid out in a way that made cogent sense, so that those who used the space could arm themselves as quickly as possible. This belonged to some form of an eccentric collector, you figured, judging not just by the randomness of it's composition, but by the wide variety of things that were here. They were a wealthy eccentric collector, by the looks of it, as these were all of high quality. So you guessed, from what you had been told. You had only seen a few weapons up close; those belonging to the Shoza guards patrolling your island. These weren’t like what you saw used in every day; many of them had decorative flourishes and embellishments that bordered on making them unusable as an actual weapon, while others were of a size and shape impractical for a guard. You could only estimate on such things; having only ever held one item in your life that was built to be a weapon, which brought about an incredible coincidence.

"What in the world?" You let out as a confused exclamation into the quiet room as your eyes focused on one weapon in particular. A broadsword, well maintained, with an extremely decorative but functional hilt. You recognized it immediately. It was the sword of a Drow General of the Underdark. You picked it up and inspected the intricacies of the handle. It was identical to the one that belonged to Khilgana, who lead your community. Many words have been used to describe her over the decades. General. Matriarch. Traitor.

Prophet.

"It's yours now, Brenvira" You heard her familiar voice, which caused you snap out of your trance. You were no longer in the strange dark room, you were in the familiar sights of home, on the island of Hylsa. Along the northern shores, near a ship, with Khilgana leading the congregation, for your farewells. "That sword is the only weapon that we were allowed to keep in our surrender. The only piece of the Old World. It was given to me the day I was made a General. You are to carry on the cause of The Absolved, so it is only right that you carry a part of us with you."

You gave Matriarch Khilgana a bow "Thank you, General. This is more generous than I deserve. I promise I will not lose it, nor will I use it unless necessary."

Khilgana gave a humored sigh "Brenvira, I can guarantee you that you will need to use it at some point. That's why I'm giving it to you. I would rather you come back with the sword having been well used than you not come back at all."

She let out a small cough as her eyes looked past you "Assuming that you use it to defend yourself, of course" Her voice was notably louder and forced, clearly meant for the guards' reassurance that you weren't a rogue or danger. The entire island of Hylsa was a prisoner of war camp, one that you had been born on spent your entire life on. None of your people have been allowed to leave yet, for fear that you may bring about an insurrection in the mainland of Slyran Delono, the leading Empire of the Elves.

"I understand Matriarch. I won't cause trouble for us."

"Brenvira, you listen to me" she spoke sternly in the Old Tongue, so that the Sylran Elf guards would not understand "You get over there and you cause trouble. You are there to support the cause of your nation, and your Goddess, Varissa. What have I always taught you?"

"There is no victory if there is no battle, but a battle avoided is better than a battle lost"

"Indeed. They fear you, they fear all of us. That's why you are the first to leave this prison of an island in a century. Use what advantages you can."

"I will"

"Than be off" She said, returning to the Sylran tongue "Make us proud Brenvira, and may the First Sister always be at your side."

You made another bow, as you turned about, and followed the elven soldiers onto the ship. They made way to leave immediately, with naught a word spoken to you. You watched Hylsa, your small island home, fade slowly in the distance as the ship carried you North, to the Sylran Empire.
