The next morning

I glance at my clock hanging on the wall. 5:30am. What a long night. The girls finish their feeds and I step outside for a look at the sunrise. A thing that vampires like me and vampires like Annie don’t have in common is that vampires that were the “children of Dracula” have unique abilities. For example, we can fly and stay out in the sunlight. We also don’t sleep but we hibernate over the years after a dangerous battle. Vampires like Annie burn easier in the sunlight and can’t fly but they can breed, like normal humans can. I may be infertile but I can breed with vampires like Annie.

I turn back into the club and open a trapdoor under the bar. I go to the girls cleaning up the mess.

“Hey girls, it is time for you to go into your coffins. As low-born vampires, you can’t go out in the sunlight. When the sun goes down, I will let you out.”

Annie looks at me confused. Liv ignores me. She starts walking towards the window.

“Liv, come back here. Sunlight is dangerous for you, you could be burned for life.” I warn her. She stubbornly resists me, then she puts her hand in the light. A stench of burned flesh fills the room. Liv yelps and runs to the tap, running the cold water in her burned hand.

“You see, this is what happens when I tell you you are ****,” I growl. “Anyways, I will see you in 12 hours. I have to see someone.”

Actually there is a few people. George, my sister and an old friend, Jasmine. Jasmine is a vampire, a Child as well. She runs an underground feeding centre underneath the city. To celebrate the opening of my club, she offered me a few bites.
