Chapter 4 by Guforess Guforess

When is his interview?

2 days later (Friday)

Oscar waited outside the tall, spiraling impressive skyscraper that was the headquarters of the AWIO. Or at least, one of the regional headquarters that were set up all over the world.

He had gotten the confirmation date of Friday, so he took the day off work to make sure all his focus was on the interview.

He entered the building at 4 pm. sharp, just on time. He admired the smooth marble floors and impressive entryway as men and women in business suits, both human and monster, were walking to and fro on their way from one meeting to another. Oscar went up front to the wide white receptionist's desk, catching the attention of the blonde woman sitting at the reception table. "I have an appointment for an interview?" He showed her the details given to him in his digital inbox, making her look to her computer and click a few keys before looking up at him and smiling. "Of course, Mr Callahan. 7th level, 5th room to your right." the receptionist told Oscar.

Oscar nodded, following her instructions and finding himself outside a wooden door with the steel plate "7-05" plastered outside. He knocked a few times, before a stern-looking woman in glasses with tied up brown hair in a hairbun wearing a black business suit opened the door and looked at him.

"Mr Callahan?"

"Yes. I'm here for the interview?"

"Come in."

She closed the door behind Oscar as he stole a quick glance around the space. There was a water dispenser at the corner, with one large wooden desk and a office chair on each side in the middle of the room.

The lady promptly took a seat behind the desk, so Oscar sat in the chair opposite her.

"These are your particulars, correct?" The woman was very business-minded and stern, doing away with the pleasantries as she passed a piece of paper with Oscar's particulars to him. "Yes." He responded after looking through. "Then sign the bottom to confirm it, and we can start the interview." The interviewer instructed.

After all paperwork was out of the way, the interviewer got started with the questions.

"Why have you decided to become a supporter for the Integration program?"

Oscar thought it wouldn't be wise to bring his friend in, so he gave the most honest answer he could that made him look good.

"I have a decent life. A decent job, a decent house, and a decent upbringing. Yet, I had never been the most social person. I hope that by taking in a monster girl, I can understand monsterkind more, and even understand myself."

"I see. How responsible would you say you are?"

"I'd say I'm fairly responsible. At work I get the job done, and submit reports on time. Yet, I understand that what you want to know is whether I can care for another being. Well, I see monster girls as more people than monsters, to be understood and not to be feared. I will treat and respect them like any other human, and by taking them in I shall do my best to take care of them. "

And so on so forth, with the seemingly endless questions coming before the interviewer nodded and stood up.

"This concludes our interview. Your answers will be considered and your case will be determined. Thank you for your time." the interviewer concluded as Oscar stood up too, shaking her hand.

"Well, I'd say that went well..." Oscar sighed as he tried to get rid of all the thoughts on what he could've done better, exiting the tall building as he made his way back home.

Does he pass the interview? If so, who is assigned to him?
