A Shield

We get back to my Domain and see we're alone.

"The others are probably still outside. Do you want to join us for training yet?" Asami asks and I shake my head no.

"I will in a bit. I need to do something first." I say and she nods. I walk upstairs and enter the Alchemy Workshop. Ramia turns to me, hearing the door open.

"Eric, what c-can I do for you?" She asks me, getting up from her chair.

"I need some of the Silver Vines." I say and she nods. She points to a large box in the corner next to the door.

"I've been p-putting the Vines in there. Along w-with the other p-plants you grew." She says and I thank her. I walk over to the box and see it's Enchanted. It uses spatial magic like the pouches do. I take ten of the Silver Vines out of the box. I thank Ramia again before leaving. I walk downstairs and enter my blacksmith's workshop. I buy two Magic Iron and two Magic Hide on the market for 2,000$. I melt down eight of the Vines. I pour them into the ingot casts and cool them with Draconic Ice. I start hammering away at them. I flatten them out and turn them into a circular shield. I make the metal thicker around the center and get thinner as it spreads. I then cut out a hole in the center using my claws. I place the Glass Ball I got from the Glass Devil in the hole. I use the rest of the metal to hold the ball and reinforce the shield. I then place the two remaining Vines on the shield as decoration. I use the Magic Iron and Magic Hide to make the straps. I make it able to be strapped to a person's wrist and arm. The reason I use the Iron and Hide is that I want them to lower the quality. I want Myla to be able to use the shield, so it can't be a Mythos item. Once I finish, I Observe the shield.

Silver Vine Shield Mythical, Lvl 90

This Shield was made by Eric, using a Mythos Material as a base. The Mythos Material was weakened by two Rare quality Materials. This made the Shield weaker but will allow non-Mythos to use the Shield. The Shield is incredibly tough. It provides great magic and physical resistance. The Shield is shock resistant, making it easier for the wielder to block powerful attacks. The Shield contains a Glass Ball holding a Devils mana. This provides it with two unique skills. Hidden Properties: The Glass Ball gives the Shield two skills. The first is Light Wall. Light Wall allows the wielder to create a wall of light centered around the Shield. The Shield will still be **** to attacks but the light will block any attacks it reaches. The second Skill is Light Ray. Light Ray lets the wielder shoot a beam of light from the Glass Ball. The beam will melt and burn whatever it touches. Both skills will consume the light the Ball has stored instead of mana. The Ball will naturally absorb light, or you can charge it by pouring Light magic into the Ball.

Perfect, I'm sure Myla will like this. And it uses light to attack and defend. I think with a smile. I store the Shield away before leaving my Workshop. I find Asami looking around. She stops when she sees me and runs over.

"Master, come here!" She says while dragging me to the bedroom. She stops in front of my Guildmaster Desk and lets go. I see an open letter and a small stack of papers on it. "You need to fill this out. It's marked as urgent. The government is asking why you kept Gaia's return a secret." Asami says and I nod. I thank her before sitting down and getting to work. I fill out the stack of papers. Basically, all they ask is when Gaia returned and why I never told them. I give them the date of her return and tell them that she didn't want her resurrection to be revealed yet. While I'm at it, I fill out the report Kallen and Kagiyama gave me. I describe the details of the battle with the Litch King. But I don't reveal Prisma or what my new Sword of Destruction can do. I keep as much of the Sword a secret as I can. Once I've finished I place the papers on the small stone on my desk. I activate the spell with my mana and the papers teleport to Triss, our guild's government agent. I get up and leave the room. I find Verona waiting for me at the table.

"Eric, are you free now?" She asks as soon as I leave the room.

"Yeah, what's up?" I ask back and she stands up.

"When do you want to fight the Demon God?"

"I'm not sure, do you think we're ready?" I ask and she shrugs.

"I don't know. I've never fought him before, but Gaia's told me everything she knows of his powers and strengths. He controls shadows and uses them to attack. He's weak to light magic. But she's never seen him use anything other than shadows. He's got an insane amount of raw strength though. But now that he's regained everything he gave the Devils, I don't know how strong he'll be. But we don't need to rush this. He can't grow any stronger in there." She says and I look at her confused.

"Why can't he grow stronger?"

"Because us Gods are made of mana. Our bodies change when we ascend, as you know. Because of this, no matter how much we work out, we can't gain muscles or grow stronger. Instead, we have to practice our magic. We can grow physically by using magic in certain ways. But we need our bodies to do so. Since he only has his soul, he's unable to grow stronger." She replies and I start thinking it over.

"Do you think he might flee?" I ask after a minute.

"If we beat him, yes. He's no coward, but he won't hesitate to run if he knows he can't win. That said, he won't flee even if we have the advantage. If he has a chance, he'll stay."

"Then how about tomorrow night? Or maybe the next morning depending on how long we spend on the guild tomorrow." I say and she looks at me a little surprised.

"Are you sure you're ready to take him on?" She asks me concerned.

"Yeah, I have a plan."
