Breakfast and magic

After a very thorough cleaning in the shower, everybody finds their way to breakfast. It’s clear that sleeping in the living room has left most of the group feeling a bit less than fully rested, but it doesn’t seem to have dampened their mood at all. If anything, there’s even more cheerfulness than usual! Of particular note is Sirona, having an animated conversation with Mazzy about the diner.

It seems she has some ideas about uniforms. You had almost forgotten her enjoyment of making clothing, and you listen in a bit more. You hadn’t even thought about it, but there isn’t really a set uniform for the monster girls working at the cafe. It hasn’t really been a problem, but you can see how it would seem more professional to have them.

Mazzy smiles at Sirona. “I like the idea, as long as it’s nothing too revealing. We have to be careful not to attract the wrong kind of attention.”

Sirona’s eyes go wide. “Oh, no no! I wouldn’t…that’s not what I want either. I was just…”

Mazzy laughs, patting Sirona’s hand. “I’m teasing. I’d love to see what you can come up with!”

Sirona smiles. “Oh…ok! I’ll start working on it after breakfast. I’ll have something ready to show you by the afternoon.”

You interrupt at this point, your curiosity piqued. “So quickly? How?”

Sirona shrugs. “I make clothes with magic. It’s…I dunno, it’s something I’ve always been able to do.”

You look at her curiously. “And your magic works here?”

She nods. “Weakly, but yes. It takes a lot longer here.”

Mazzy nods. “There has to be a bit of magic here, or monster girls wouldn’t survive. Minor talents, like Sirona’s, are useable. They taught us about this at the AWIO when we arrived.”

Kenna grins. “If there was more magic, I could be stronger! But I’m happy as I am.”

You chuckle. “Interesting. I didn’t think about all that.”

Kenna nudges you. “Speaking of things we can learn, I have a question. Can you teach me to drive?”

You blink, a bit surprised by the question. “I guess I could, but a better question is am I allowed to. I’d have to ask.”

Kenna nods. “I’d appreciate it, my mate. It would be nice to be able to get out and about without having to drag you or Dakota along if you’re busy. Mazzy and Ellie are too short to do it, and Sirona says she’s nervous about it.”

You chuckle. “And I take it you’re just fine with taking charge on this?”

She grins. “It’ll be fun! And besides, then I can make my own snack runs!”

You roll your eyes. “Of course. Well, I’ll check and see what the rules are about it, but I certainly don’t have a problem with it.”

Kenna nods. “Good. I can give you a bit more persuasion if you need it though!”

You laugh. “You know you don’t need a pretext to seduce me, Kenna.”

She grins. “It’s more fun this way, my mate. You know you love it!”
