What To Do Now?
Secure Funding
Thankfully your tuition is being covered but before long you’ll need to purchase materials for your studies and when that happens you need to be ready to pay.
You step out into the hall, tapping your knuckles against Nika’s door which promptly springs open revealing your RA.
“Yes..?” She looks up at you with that familiar stony expression as she clutches a heavy looking tome with both arms.
“I need money..”
“I’m under no obligation to give you money” she states bluntly.
“But you ARE under obligation to tell me how to make money..”
after a brief period she nods her head, apparently she was trying to remember if that’s one of her responsibilities.
“You could go to the financial office and take on student debt” she says, floating the idea across with an almost sarcastic tone.
The idea of putting yourself at the financial mercy of this academy didn’t appeal to you.
“You could volunteer at the necromancy class as a corpse, they offer a flat rate of 15 gold“
Volunteer to be resurrected? That sounds unpleasant, especially considering the fact that you’d need to die first… but it wouldn’t take much effort on your part… and it IS money…
“There’s always the Adventurers Program” She says offhandedly, as though it was something everyone knew by heart.
You did not know by heart.
“Oh, right, I forget your new..” you don’t quite know if that’s meant to be a compliment or not…
“…It’s a new program headed by Curator Sexleel in which students may go on ‘adventures’ to collect mystical artifacts, lost tomes, that kinda thing…”
“It’s a good way to get practical experience if your in this for a career in adventuring and you can get some pocket change for each successful acquisition”
“Just know that the college takes no responsibility for any danger you face during these expeditions and you’ll need to be properly ‘Briefed’ before each expedition”
You don’t entirely love the way she said ‘Briefed’ and the fact that you will more than likely face very real danger is a good deal concerning.
Seeing your hesitation she continues. “You could always ask around? See if anyone has any odd jobs that need taking care of…”
Her tone tells you that, that’s all she’s got, you give a small nod of your head in gratitude before the door closes, seemingly with a mind of its own.
Well, you have your options, you gotta get money SOMEHOW and each option has its own set of ups and downs.
So as you leave the dorms you look out over the ever shifting, chaotic grounds of the campus, your destination and mission very clear in your mind.
