a big man and his big dog
a few hours Pippa can make great progress through the forest, when around noon she hears loud footsteps close by. something big is making its way through the woods
Pippa had learn that there are troubles in this lands... Troubles that better should be avoided.
She dives into a bush to hide, hoping to stay undetected.
the creature is breaking trees left and right and one of those trees is falling on the bush Pippa hides in, forcing her to jump out before she is squashed. she finds herself face to face with a giant, an enourmous humanoid, unwashed and wearing nothing but a loincloth. in his hand he holds a crude club, more of a young uprooted tree. he looks down on Pippa, working on recognizing what he sees
Pippa seems frozen , not knowing if she should flee or not
"ermmmm... Hello?"
the giant grunts something incomprehensible and swings his club
Pippa is hit with the club and swept of her feet; the damage of the swing is enough to crack a few rips, but its not life threatening.
when hit, Pippa decides to activate her ability to "fade away", then she runs as far as she can while invisible to hide behind some other big tree
The fact that his prey is vanishing from sight enrages the giant and he slams his club on the ground.
Pippa is safe from the blast behind a tree when the club of the giant violently breaks, sending wood shrapnel in all directions including his own. he screams again in anger before running off, either to look for his victim or to get a new club. for the moment he's gone
Pippa stays hidden for a while to be certain that he's gone
"pfew... that was a dangerous one..."
it turns out he actually meant to come back, and not alone. from what Pippa can hear the giant is now accompanied by a feral animal. he's still a bit away but he is coming for the place of their clash
Pippa tries to flee in stealth
some feral beast is starting to sniff out the scene of the fight while Pippa makes a her escape. luckily she comes across a creek that helps her throw of her assailants. she wades through ti downstream and leaves on the other side after half a mile. in the distance she can hear the giant shout again and the snarls of the beast, before they drift off, seemingly looking in the wrong direction
"that was really a close one this time. It wouldn't have been pleasant."
