Chapter 4 by GamerChick077 GamerChick077

What's next?

Waking up

I dreamt of when I was thrust into the air... then Duncan... then Dawn... then the demoness and... the whole world being destroyed. But was that even real or just another dream.

I **** my eyes open and gazed sleepily at my surroundings.

"What a dream..." I moaned tirelessly.

I've been having another dream about Duncan and Dawn and what everyone here calls Earth-1218, which was destroyed 18 years ago. And the Chainsaword.

I turned my head around completely lost and utterly disoriented.

Where am I?

I groaned, sitting up slowly. Standing by the bedside was Skye Hickam, staring down at me with a slight smile on her face, her head lilted to one side. She leaned forward slightly, "You okay?"

I propped myself up with both hands. I smiled and nodded at Skye, "I guess..."

Skye was a slender and athletic girl had who medium-length blonde hair in a high ponytail with two braids hanging down. She had green eyes.

Amaya was also there. She was a fair young lady who displayed features of both Asian and Caucasian heritage. This gave her a unique appearance as she had many Asian facial features, such as the shape of her face and eyes, while possessing blue eyes and fair blonde hair. She was 166cm tall. She came from a different world to the rest of us, closer to mine except for the presence of parasitic orgasnims that tried to take over her world. She was 38 when she died and reincarnated 21 years ago.

A woman stepped out from the shadows of the room. I narrowed my eyes. The woman from earlier that I had fought, Phoenix Storm. But she looked much calmer now than she had then.

Phoenix was 24 years old and came from the same world as Skye and her dad. Phoenix was raised at some kinda mercenary school run by Skye's dad, until her world got destroyed seven years ago. Unlike me and Amaya, Phoenix, Skye and her dad were able to escape on a spaceship.

My attention drifted slightly, as my eyes caught sight of a familiar object propped up against the wall near Phoenix, "Huh? The Chainsaword..."

"Still hard to believe that you of all people are the chosen one," Phoenix said as she folded her arms over her chest.

I looked up at her, annoyed.

"Well," she said sighed as he took a few steps in my direction, "I suppose beggars can't be choosers."

"Why don't you start making sense!" I yelled, becoming tired of her ongoing insults, and all this nonsense, "What's going on here? Seriously, I was killed by these shadow creatures that showed up outta the blue, along with my friends. I reincarnated as a catboy. And now I'm here in some room listening to you two drop a bomb on me telling me that I’m the chosen one... Even if that does sounds cool? What gives?"

"Okay," Amaya, seated herself on the edge of the bed, "You know there are many other worlds out there besides this one and Earth-1218, right?"

"Yeah," I replied with a firm nod.

"They've been secret because they've never been connected. Until now," her expression changed to that of a more solemn nature. She shut her eyes and took a deep breath, "When the demons came, everything changed."

"The demons?" I echoed, confused.

"The ones who attacked you," Skye told me, seating herself next to me on the edge of the bed, swinging her feet back and forth, "You remember?"

I gave Skye a firm nod. Of course I remembered. They'd only destroyed my own world, and killed everyone I loved.

Those things literally killed me. It's as hard to forget things like that. The only reason I'm just remembering it now is because I reincarnated as newborn baby, too young to be able to handle memories.

"The darkness in people's hearts," Skye continued, leaning back slightly, "That's what attracts them."

"And there is darkness," Phoenix said, "Within every heart."

"Demons have been destroying worlds for decades," Skye interjected.

"How... how many are there? Worlds, I mean?" I asked.

"More than you could count," Phoenix responded, "And they're all in danger because of the demons."

"Well, I didn't ask for this," I murmured, my gaze on the Chainsaword, "I mean I did fantasise about being the hero of one of those Isekai animes, but not like this. I wanted to reincarnate in the one Rimuru Tempest went to to, not Subaru's."

"The Chainsaword chooses its master," Skye said with a shrug, "And it chose you."

"So tough luck," Phoenix continued, apathetically, leaning against a door near the opposite wall.

Skye narrowed her eyes at Phoenix. That sure hadn't helped. She turned to look back at me, ready to apologise for for Phoenix being, well, the way she was.

"How did all this happen?" I asked, "I remember being in my room..." Suddenly I jumped to my feet and gasped, "Wait a minute! What happened to Duncan?!" I desperately asked, "To Dawn...?!"

"You know what?" Phoenix's voice came from the doorway.

My gaze set on her waiting to hear what she had to say. She turned her head so we were looking at each other full in the face for just a moment, only to have her look away again, folding her arms over her chest. She shut her eyes as though it was painful.

"I really don't know," she answered, a hint of earnest, even empathy, evident in her voice, "Your world has fallen into darkness. It's doubtful they will have been reincarnated yet," she murmured.

Phoenix didn't really care much for tact. I fiddled with the handle of the Chainsaword, my eyes lowered to the ground.

I realised the full weight of what had happened. My brother and childhood friend were gone, taken by those dark creatures. I hadn't been able to stop it.

So... what was I to do now? I looked over at Skye who looked over at Phoenix as though trying to figure out what made her tick. I then began to move around the room.

The room was dominated by shades of white. The walls and the doorways were the most obvious. The rest of the colours in the room simply complimented them. The decorations and furniture were sleek. There were posters on the walls of various movies and Disney ++ shows, which told me we were in the Retro Future Hotel inside the Futurology District.

The Futurology District was modelled on theories about the future. Some of it was based on 19th century visions of the future, some on a science fiction fantasy theme. It was governed by the reincarnations of Leonardo da Vinci (who was now a woman bearing a striking resemblance to the Mona Lisa), H.G. Wells and Jules Verne.

It even featured movies that were supposed to exist in the future. Amaya told me that there used to be at least 20 Rocky and Jaws movies, but they disappeared in the 2000s. Now, it's mostly Marvel and Star Wars.

So many awful movies.

Avengers: The Secret Empire, released in 2040. By that point we'd lost all the good characters. And it was an adaption of one of the worst storylines in the comics. By this point, Marvel had stopped producing comic books altogether and were relying entirely on the MCU. Even Kamala Khan, Carol Danvers, America Chavez and Riri Williams had been replaced with even woker versions of themselves.

Female Pirates of the Caribbean: You're a Sexist If You Don't See It, released in 2048. I know they had used the same marketing tactic as the last time they tried to make a female Jack Sparrow happen, but they weren't even trying to be subtle this time.

Fast and Furious 19, released in 2052. The movie had Dominic Toretto's daughter car chasing aliens in space. At least this one wasn't woke.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 10, released in 2053. Gamora and Nebula had become a lesbian couple (never mind that they're sisters), though their lesbianism was edited out for the Chinese release. The whole thing had gone downhill since Chris Pratt left.

Another Disney live action remake, this time of Bambi, released in 2054. Of course, the owl was turned gay. Why an owl would be gay, I don't know. His homosexuality was edited out for the Chinese release.

Then we have all shows the Disney++ shows.

Lucasfilm had given up on Star Wars movies and decided to just keep releasing Disney++ shows, the Book of Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Yoda, were all a bait-and-switch that ended up actually being about completely different characters to what was advertised.

The Spider-Woman show sucked, filled with the usual feminist talking points and they adapted the pregnancy arc in the first season. And Luke Cage was retconned into being gay.

Quicksilver was just bait for his own replacement. Obviously Disney didn't have much faith that new female Quicksilver, so they brought back Aaron Taylor-Johnson just to prop up the new character before being anal **** to **** by MODOK. In a kids show. And is Donald Trump even relevant in 2054?

"Hey, think of this as an adventure!" Skye called out, trying to make me feel better.

I tried to take another breath. An adventure? I was confused at first, but then slowly my mind cleared. I didn't know they were... gone. They could have survived somehow. Even if they did die, they could have reincarnated in this place just like me. Yeah, this was an adventure I decided to myself. Just like the kind I always wanted to go on.

"Sooner or later, the demons will find you," Phoenix told me sternly, "You'd best prepare yourself."

"I've been preparing myself for 18 years. Right now, I'm gonna look for Duncan and Dawn," I said.
