They come across two monsters who are making a valuable discovery

After some time navigating the cave system, a pair of voices ahead drew the two women's attention. They cautiously approached and found two kobolds examining a small object. One seemed like any kobold that wandered the ancient lands, but the other was strange. He dressed like an engineer, or a scientist, and was examining the object closely. After a moment he spoke.

"It is exactly how master described it! Once we figure out how it works master will be able to conquer all the lands, and we will be his most trusted servants, Deg!"

His partner replied, "and we'll get the finest wenches, Nog!"

"Nono my dear Deg, we will get the _second _finest wenches. Master demands the best" the kobold known as Nog replied with a chuckle.

Marielle had heard enough of these scum. She signaled to Brynn, and they closed in on the pair, weapons drawn. Marielle struck Deg with her blade. First second or third, he would get no wenches as he crumpled to the ground as she ran him through. Nog turned as Brynn brought her blade down upon him, taking a serious wound, but fending her off upon hearing his brother in arms' pained scream. Marielle followed up and was parried away, but the engineer's strength was fading. Brynn, seeing an opportunity , grabbed the engineer and held her blade to his throat.

"WHO IS YOUR MASTER?!" She shouted at him.

He shook his head, refusing her question. Marielle wrested the trinket from his hands. He screamed as if he had been stabbed again, and began to struggle forcefully.

"NO! I MUST BRING THAT TO ASMODEUS. HE WILL BE-"

Brynn slit his throat, and his words gurgled to a stop.

Marielle stood in shock. Asmodeus was not just any demon. He was THE demon of lust. This was more than she could handle on her own. The looked at the trinket in her hands. It was a compass. Relatively unremarkable. Were the kobolds mistaken about its importance? Or did it hold a significance that she could not see.
