Ai has no imagination... guess they're off to "clear out rats"

The assistant guild master snorted, "And what skills would those be? Sniffing out prey? Ripping apart our enemies with those claws of yours?"

Valkyria's face remained impassive, "I can track and hunt, yes. But I also have knowledge of plants and herbs. I can be useful in a variety of situations."

The assistant guild master raised an eyebrow, "Is that so? And what rank do you believe you should be placed in?"

Valkyria thought for a moment before responding, "I do not know the ranks of the guild, but I have had years of experience surviving on my own. I would not be opposed to starting at the bottom and working my way up."

The assistant guild master nodded, "Very well. I will speak with the Guildmaster and we will make a decision. But be warned, not all adventurers will be happy to see a werewolf among their ranks."

Valkyria's eyes narrowed, "I am aware of that, but I will not let their prejudices stop me from proving my worth."

The assistant guild master finished speaking with Valkyria and turned to the Guildmaster, who was still speaking with Sarah and Dana. "Balthazar, I've spoken with the werewolf. She seems confident in her abilities, but we will need to determine her rank."

The interview continued, with Balthazar and the assistant guild master questioning Dana about her skills and Sarah vouching for her as a reliable partner. Valkyria watched from the sidelines, her ears perked up as she listened to their conversation. She couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy as she watched the other adventurers laughing and joking with each other, knowing that it would be much harder for her to earn their trust.

But she was determined to try. She had lived her life as an outcast, never quite fitting in. But she sensed that this guild might be her chance to find a place where she belonged. A place where she could use her skills to help others and, perhaps, make some friends along the way… if Jake would let her, she reminded herself.

Balthazar clasped his hands together, "Excellent, then it's settled. Valkyria, you and Dana will form a team and complete a mission together. You're both new and F-ranked, so it's a good opportunity for you to get to know each other and work together."

Valkyria nodded, "Understood, Guildmaster. What's the mission?"

Balthazar pulled out a map from one of his desk drawers and spread it out on the table. "We've had reports of rats infesting the winemaker's storage cellar at the far north end of town. It's a simple mission, but one that needs to be done. The winemaker is an important figure in this town and we can't have his livelihood destroyed by rats."

Dana's face fell as she heard the mission details. She had been hoping for something a little more exciting than rat-catching. But what really bothered her was that she was being paired up with a werewolf. She didn't want to be anywhere near Valkyria, let alone work with her. But she knew better than to argue with the guildmaster about her first quest ever. She simply nodded, keeping her head down, and promised herself she would get stronger!
