Chapter 40
by Bengates
Prompt: Sarah suggests they go to a nearby city (give the city a fantasy sounding name of your choice), Jake is unrepentant.
I didn't plan for the Moon Goddess to stick around but it's neat the the Ai chose to give her more dialogue. Three re-writes to convince the Ai to use more dialogue and less exposition.
Sarah suggests that they take the villagers to the nearby city of Arvandor, a splendid and wondrous city built around the base of a towering tree, the likes of which had never been seen before. "We could take them to Arvandor," Sarah said, "The Adventurer's Guild has connections there, and I know some people who can help."
Jake snorted in derision, "Why should I care about these people or what happens to them?"
Sarah glared at him, "Because you owe it to me, remember? You're bound to me, and that means you have to help them."
Jake let out a low growl, "Fine, but it doesn't mean I have to like it."
Sarah ignored Jake's sulking and continued, "We could use the money from the moon goddess to buy some land outside of the city, build some new homes for these people, and help them get back on their feet."
Jake rolled his eyes, "And what if they're not cut out for city life? What if they can't handle living in a big, bustling place like Arvandor?"
Sarah sighed, "We'll figure it out. But we have to do something for them. They've lost everything they've ever known."
The moon goddess spoke up, "And you, Jake, have much to learn about caring for others. That is why I have bound you to Sarah, to learn from her example."
Jake snarled, "I don't need to learn anything from her. I can take care of myself."
The moon goddess chuckled, "We shall see. But for now, you are bound to her, and you will help these people."
Prompt: The moon goddess leaves and they set out for Arvandor. Saran and Dana discuss Jake and their plans. Jake broods. Sarah comes up with a plan to help the villagers.
