Chapter 35
by Bengates
Prompt: Change the scene back to present day where Jarek (now known as Jake) leaps down and makes a deal to get the power of the avatar of the old gods. This deal should hint at having hidden consequences.
I had to remind it to use dialogue again, and show don't tell, and then prompt it to rely primarily on dialogue for the scene. Third try was the charm, I didn't influence what the dialogue was at all.
Jake leaped down from the precipice and landed on the pile of rubble with a resounding thud. He could feel the vibrations through his entire body, the remnants of the Old God's power still reverberating through the earth. He stood, tall and imposing, directly over the spot where the Avatar was buried.
"I know you're not as dead as I led Sarah to believe," Jake said, his voice echoing through the ruins. "I can feel your power, even now, seeping up through the ground."
There was a deep rumble, as if the earth itself was responding to Jake's words. And then, from beneath the rubble, a voice spoke to him, ancient and malevolent.
"What do you want, mortal?" it hissed. "Why do you seek to take my power?"
"I seek to control it," Jake replied. "I seek to harness your power, to use it for my own ends."
"And what, pray tell, do you offer me in exchange?" the Avatar asked, a note of curiosity creeping into its voice.
"I offer you the ability to ride around in my body," Jake said, his eyes flashing with a mad intensity. "To experience what I experience, to see what I see. And in exchange, you will help me to control the Will of Fenrir, that ever-present threat that seeks to overwhelm me."
There was a long pause, and Jake could feel the Avatar's power coalescing beneath him, as if it were considering his offer.
"Very well," the Avatar said at last. "I accept your offer. But know this, mortal. My power is not to be trifled with. Use it wisely, or suffer the consequences."
Jake smiled, a cold, calculating grin. "Don't worry, Avatar," he said. "I know exactly what I'm doing."
((Author's note: Does he though, does he really? I sort of feel like this is going to come back to haunt him in the not too distant future. Good on the Chat Bot for managing another round of foreshadowing even if I not-so-subtly suggested it.))
Prompt: Change the scene back to Sarah's perspective as she searches for Dana and Amy who lived in a village that was very close to the mountain.
