Chapter 32 by BrainDerling

Do you let Chance keep pushing himself?

Leave it up to Chance.

You know pokémon are able understand there trainers orders and you've always wonder just how much they really understand, but in Chance's case your starting to believe he understands quite a lot.

"Chance? are you sure you want to try this again so soon?" You ask but of course Chance just keeps spreading the bread. "If you want to keep training stop spreading bread and let me do it." you say and he stops and once and looks up at you.

"You really don't have to push yourself so hard, its ok to stop." you say, but Chance simply turns around and resumes scattering bread.

You end up watching Chance defend bread from Pidgey till it starts to get dark and the Pidgey head to roost for the night. You spend the night in your room at the pokémon center with Chance nestled in your bed and get up early to buy more bread again for the next day, you count your money and you can only afford to do this for two more days, so that's exactly what you do.

After scouting out a few quite spots around town, you and Chance spend the next two days scattering bread and defending it from Pidgey. At one point you even let Kakuna have a try but its becoming increasingly clear to you that its not interested in fighting unless its defending itself, thought you did get the bright idea to stick the bread directly on Kakuna's shell and got a good chuckle watching it struggle to defend itself from the swarming Pidgey, but it soon gave up and remained still as the Pidgey pecked the bread off him causing you to give up on training him for now. By the end of the two days every Pidgey in town has learned better then to land anywhere near free breadcrumbs.

Without money to pay for another nights room your plan is to challenge Brock again just before the gym closes for the night. As you head toward the gym you reflect on the last two says spent bonding and training your friend, this is what you imagined being a trainer would be like and you feel proud of not only yourself but also Chance and the huge improvements he made in the last few days, he is far from the little runt you captured back in Pallet. You feel optimistic and you keeping telling yourself that if Lenny and Blue can earn there boulder bag then surly you can too, but you still feel butterfree's in your belly as you enter the gym, take a deep breath, then step onto the rocky battlefield.

Brock's greeting is friendlier then last time "I'm told you must have a hundred Pidgey in your pocket by now." He chuckles, "But I'll admit I was watching you a bit and the truth is you've just been training that one Rattata, I assume you've returned to Challenge for the boulder badge again?" he asks.

"Correct, I've come to Challenge you!" you announce proudly.

Once again brock picks first, and once again you send Kakuna to meet his Geodude, your are banking on poisoning it again but you didn't anticipate Kakuna having improved so much merely from being pecked at by a horde of Pidgey but it seems to have hardened his shell considerably since it takes three rocks to knock over your Kakuna this time around and your certain Geodude is poisoned again given its current unsteady wobbling.

Last time when Kakuna was crushed your hopes of winning where crushed with him, this time it's all part of you plan. "Go Chance!" you yell with passion as you throw your only other remaining pokéball.

You explained the plan to Chance last night and again this morning, but this is going to be a real test of just how much his little rat brain really comprehends. You hold your breath for a tense moment as Chance seems to ignore the plan as he barrels right towards Geodude, then you smile triumphantly when Chance pretends to be frightened and skids to a halt before he scurries timidly behind one of the boulders.

"Its over, call your Rattata back, there's no need for it to get hurt." Brock offers sympathetically.

You say nothing as you stare intensely at the poisoned Geodude, you hold your breath, time seems to move slowly as Brock politely waits for you to do something. Brock only seems to understands he was fooled when Geodude finally faints and Chance steps out confidently from behind his rock. Your feel badly about using Brock's genuine concern and honest nature to your advantage but Brock seems overjoyed by your ploy.

"Well done! I hope you have a plan just as smart for my Onix!" he says as he throws his ball.

You wish you did have a second plan for Onix, but this was your big plan, you got the Geodude out of the way without Chance wasting any of energy or taking a single hit, now all you have to do is hope all your training pays off.

You watch as Onix towers over Chance and you really start to second guess yourself, but your doubt fades as Onix flicks his tail just like last time, only to have Chance dodge nimbly out of the way with ease. Chance keep well ahead of Onix's slow predictable strikes while landing hit after hit of his own, your sure you've won the battle when Onix seems to give up enterally and simply curls up in a ball. Then Onix's body uncurls with explosive ****! You and Chance are both caught by surprise however your poor Rattata is the one sent careening into the one of the many boulders that litter the battlefield.

"Please get back up!" you scream, but its no use, Chance is down and out.

You where sure you had it, you where feeling so good, but now your insides feel like the just hurled into a bolder as well. You feel dizzy as you recall Chance, as you put his ball away however you realize that Kakuna's ball is still empty.

You look behind the rock that knocked him out and your heart jumps when you see Kakuna's empty shell, "Kakuna wasn't knocked out, he just gave up on fighting back again, but he must have evolved when he beat Geodude" you think as you look around and indeed spot your Beedrill flying high above.

Brock spots the spots your Beedrill as well "HAHA I knew you had another plan, you've got me, finish it." Brock sounds genuinely happy about his own impending loss.

"Beedrill attack Onix!" you order, but Beedrill ignores you.
"Beedrill use poison sting." you yell, but the Beedrill keeps loafing about.
"Beedrill do something, anything!" you scream, but the Beedrill pretends not to notice.
"Beedrill please help!" you plea desperately, but the Beedrill decides to go ahead and fuck right off out the open Gym door.

You can't believe it, it's happened again, you've been abandoned by another pokémon. Again you crash from the wonderful high feeling of certainty victory to the crushing despair of loss. "there must be something so flawed with me that every pokémon can see it, I'll never be a trainer." you think bitterly as you blame yourself for your own abandonment, "Its hopeless, I give up."

You are so busy feeling hopeless and sorry for yourself you hadn't noticed Brock approach until he speaks "That was tragic to watch, but if I might ask, how did you acquire that Kakuna?"

"It doesn't matter, I quit, I'm not cut out to be a trainer, but for what its worth Lenny caught it for me." you answer gloomily.

"I only ask because its very rare for a pokémon to abandon there trainer like that, it normally only happens if a trainer abuses a Pokémon's respect, or never earned it in the first place, and normally capturing a pokémon is enough to earn there respect." Broke explains patiently.

"So Charmander and Kakuna only abandoned me because I'm not the one who captured them?" you ask hopefully.

"Well.. I've never heard of a trainer being abandoned by two pokémon before." Brock says frowning, "still if you received both of them for another trainer then its possible that's the reason your pokémon disobeyed you." Brock offers kindly, thought you think you hear doubt in his voice.

Brock might doubt his own words but there all you need to hear to help you to feel less hopeless, not ready to give up on being a trainer just yet you take a step toward the door, before you remember you still have unfinished business with Brock's cock.

Leave without giving Brock a blowjob?
