Diapers in Media.
TV Shows and Movies, with Diapers!
Throwing to the news, the story of the day was presented by two anchors sat behind a desk. If Abe wasn't acutely aware of the global alteration, one would think nothing was different. Throwing it to weather and traffic though, the presenters standing in front of the screens had obvious diapers on with the news channel's logo on the landing strip as they pointed out highs and lows, chance of rain, and areas of congestion. The weather woman was quite a sight, occasionally turning to face the map to point out some pressure system and how it spanned from here to there, the full butt was shown. The traffic guy, not Abe's cup of tea so less eye-catching.
The first commercial started up, Huggies Ever-Stock subscription service was explained, blah blah per month, the first 2 free on an annual package, your size and style shipped to your door, restock on wipes, powder, lotion, bonus disposal, at your finger tips. Then a car driving a post-people world alluding to freedom, a mention of back seat changing space and privacy tinting.
While the first ad had Abe's attention, almost out of reflex he change channel during the car as. A channel up had cartoons, but was also mid commercial, "Pampers trainers help you learn when you need a change, no more unexpected checks from mom and dad, feel the freedom." Aimed at the 7-9 demographic, diaper training to gauge capacity for yourself. Abe could certainly see those bookmarked ab/dl forums in his head, humiliating checks from infantalizing parents or siblings on teens that thought themselves too big for such attention but secretly reveling in the power exchange. Even a fully diapered world still left niches that made Abe feel deviant. The show started and cartoon characters in diapers started playing out the absurd scenario they were trapped in, apart from minor comments "rash face", "don't be a leaky louey", getting thrown around, nothing was different, since after all, unless going to a toilet was plot specific, that space was never addressed in the before-media.
Not familiar with the show, Abe changed the channel. An anime was playing, character complaining about always being hungry? Check. Woman with physics defying boobs barely being covered by a top made out of both steel and silly putty? Check. Older man lecherously asking for said woman's used diaper and getting knocked in the head? Che- so the new version of "used panties" was now a used diaper, certainly upped the ick factor of the pervert, but also made total sense. Now the diaper style of these characters also seemed to demonstrate something about their personality. Character has on a super thick diaper? They were the naive protag still learning about their world and powers, somewhat thin and looking like before-time underwear? Clearly a mentor or master that has discipline about when and what they eat and accute awareness of their body. Was it cloth style? Either it's a slice of life and linking the character to responsibility, or an old sage that still practices the ancient ways. Disposable style? On an adventure and globe trotting, not bound to a specific place where they would have access to drying lines.
The culture study was fascinating to Abe, but the need to see the effects of his rules on real people prompted another channel change. Sitcoms still had the same tropes, the doofy dad might get a full diaper pointed out by the on-top-of-everything mom, the awkward teen's latest public embarrassment was getting caught with a leak after wacky shenanigans prevented an earlier change. Police procedurals still had serious tones during interrogation scenes, it was only Abe that found the displayed diapers to be a wild juxtaposition, though the line "you're dirty and we'll find the pail to prove it" was still said.
Gameshows and reality TV likewise showed little impact beyond the fact that, yes, everyone was wearing a diaper. While still novel to Abe, it was clearly normalized across every strata. Maybe the old rule that made everyone wear diapers should be altered to still have elements of embarrassment still present, or maybe a different rule should be made to keep Abe tantalized and make a more dramatic change?
Keep exploring diaper wearing world, or change/add a rule?
