A Wounded Stranger Arrives

Brandy is just about to get the children formed back up into practice when she hears the sounds of the doors being shoved open.

Standing in the doorway is a stranger, a traveler based on his attire. The traveler takes a few steps into the church, and she notices that he is holding his side and seems to be having trouble walking. Still, Brandy tells the children to “get behind me kids” while she places a hand onto her sword.

The man takes a few more staggered steps into the church. Reaching out a hand he mumbles out “please, help me…” and then he collapses onto the ground.

Thinking quickly, Brandy turns to the children and tells one of the older ones to “Go get the mother Superior.” she than move towards the injured man getting a closer look and kneels down next to the man. In the few seconds since the man collapsed, she can see a pool of blood spreading underneath the man.

Flipping over the man she takes a quick look at his chest and see that there is a large gash that torn a hole through his armor and left a gaping wound in his chest. “Dear Shelyn…” Brandy places a hand on the man’s chest and calls upon your powers of healing, manifesting a bright glow where her hand touches the man’s chest.

She quickly sees the man’s wounds close, and the man’s breathing slows down as the color starts to return to his face. Looks like he will make it.

“What is going on child?” Brandy turns around and sees the head of the Church, Mother Superior Helen, approaching, the older child Brandy sent to fetch her close behind.

The Mother Superior sits down next to Brandy and examines the **** man. “You did well daughter, he seems to be stable. With some bed rest he should live. Take him to the infirmary.” Turning towards the children who had inched closer, trying to get a better look at the stranger. She singles out one of the children and tells them “Go the kitchens and tell the cook that we have a guest and to send some soup to the infirmary.”

As one of the children runs off to the kitchens, Brandy grabs the **** man and picks him up. As she follows the Mother Superior to the infirmary her mind starts to race with questions.

Who is this man and what happened to him?

It doesn’t take Brandy long to get the man into the infirmary and soon he is wrapped up in blankets and resting. She is about to go back to her duties when she is stopped by The Mother Superior. “Oh, Mother. I almost didn’t see you there.”

“Oh, that is quite fine my child. Tell me, how is our guest doing?” the older woman steps around you to take a look at the sleeping man.

“He is resting now. His injuries have been tended to and it appears that he will make a full recovery.”

“Good, keep me informed of his progress. I want to know when he awakens.”

This caused Brandy some surprise. “Mother, shouldn’t one of the dedicated healers take care of him?”

Mother Superior simply laughs “Oh Brandy, you have plenty of skill in the healing arts. Besides” she spares a moment to look at the sleeping patient. “You were the one who healed him, it only seems appropriate for you to continue tending to him.”

“But…” You are about to argue but she cuts you off.

“Now Brandy, I know you are eager to get back to supervising the children, but you are 18 now. It is time for you to take on other duties. This,” she gestures towards the sleeping stranger. “Seems like the perfect opportunity for you to do just that.”

The Mother Superior gives you a friendly smile, but you know that this isn’t a request, and that the conversation is done. Resigned, you give her a short bow “Yes, of course. It would be my honor.”
