“I’m the only one who should be thanking anyone… I can hardly believe how lucky I am. You two invited me to join you, let me take control, and let me have the best sex I’ve ever experienced. And you’ve both been so nice, I…” Small tears form in the corners of the boy’s hazel eyes, and he trembles slightly. “D-Dammit, not again… Why does this have to happen every time I get emotional…”

Not for the first time, you feel a bond of kinship with the shy boy. You definitely know what it’s like to be on your own, and you get the sense that he’s been lonely for a long time. You would be the same without Rose, honestly. Your older brother is the only other person you have a strong connection with, and he travels a lot of the time since he’s a career trainer. If you didn’t have your girlfriend… Would you have even followed your dream of becoming a trainer? It’s possible, even likely, that you would have just remained at home in solitude, and probably sunk into depression. The fact that Orion started to travel all on his own even without someone like Rose at his side, pushing him, kind of makes you envious of him. Like he has a strength you doubt you would have had, even if he is just as introverted.

You and the pink-eyed girl share a serious look, silently communicating with one another through your eyes. As you both nod to one another, Rose gently grabs onto the slim boy’s shoulder. “Don’t worry about it, Orion. We understand. And for the record, we think that you’re really nice too. Now here, lie down.” The tanned girl guides the young man to lie next to you, then places herself on the opposite side of him. The three of you lie together now, the brown-haired boy in between you and your lover. The beds in the first tier of the Pokécenter are a bit small to fit three people, but you’re all skinny enough that you manage it. Plus, you’re not shy at all about squeezing in close. You and Rose both snuggle up with Orion, you laying your head on his left shoulder and gripping his left hand in one of yours, while the pink-haired girl puts her head on his right shoulder and wraps on of her legs over one of his, placing the boy in a soft sandwich as your press your naked bodies against him.

A deep pink flush takes over his face, and he smiles sheepishly. “Well this is… Thank you, girls. I really appreciate just how kind you’ve been to me tonight. I…” He goes quiet for a moment, like he’s searching for what he wants to say. “I don’t have many friends, so you two being so welcoming has meant a lot. Um, do you think… well…”

“That we could be friends? I think we’d both like that, yeah. Right Raven?” Rose smiles at you from across the boy’s chest, and you smile right back.

“Of course. I want to get to know you better, Orion. And…” Your own face flushes, and you start mumbling. “I’d… like to do this again sometime…”

Your girlfriend giggles. “Knew it. I haven’t seen you have that much fun in a while, baby… I’d like that too.”

The young man’s hazel eyes widen. “R-Really? I would love to! And to get to know you both as well! Um… Wow, I… I’ve been having good luck with meeting new people lately.” He says, closing his eyes and smiling to himself.

“You mentioned that before, about how you ‘keep running into nice people’.” Rose points out, looking at the brown-haired boy curiously.

“Oh, yeah. I met three people in Mt. Moon who were really nice to me too. They… They helped me feel comfortable. With them, and with my preferred way of acting during sex. We promised to keep in touch once they’re out of the cave, to be friends. The first I’ve ever really had…”

“Daniel, Kayla, Red? Those their names?” Your tanned girlfriend asks, causing the boy’s eyes to flicker in surprise. Those three did head in that direction a few days ago, so it stands to reason that he may have bumped into them. And you definitely feel like they would have been very friendly to him, considering how they acted towards you and Rose.

“Oh, yeah! Do you two know them too?” Orion inquires happily, smiling at the thought of all of his new friends knowing each other.

“A little. We saw them around the Pokécenter a bunch while they were here, and ended up joining their victory celebration after they beat Brooke.” You explain.

“Oh, we certainly did! That was the last time I made Raven’s little fantasy come true, with some help from Daniel.” Rose smirks teasingly as you blush. “And hey, now you’ve participated in our celebration for winning our Boulder Badges. Funny how these things work out.”

“Oh… Um, if you two won your Boulder Badges already… How long are you, um, staying…?” The Saffron boy’s face sinks slightly, and his eyes flick between the two of you.

You and your lover share another meaningful look before you speak up. “Well, we haven’t necessarily been rushing our journey too much. We can probably rest here for at least a couple days, right Rose?”

Giggling, the pink-haired girl replies. “For sure, I’m down. As for anything beyond that… Well, like I said, we need to get to know you a bit better, especially before we make any longer term decisions. Sound good, Orion?”

Faint tears once again well up in the young man’s eyes. “I… Thank you both. Hopefully… Hopefully once you get to know me… Well, I hope I make a good impression.”

“You’ve certainly made a good first one, that’s for sure.” You lean up and kiss the boy on the cheek, pressing yourself even further into him.

“Yeah! Now, let’s see how much more you can impress me tonight, hm?” Rose grins devilishly, then starts to kiss her way down the slim young man’s body, slowly making her way towards his manhood.

“U-Um… I may need a little more of a break. Just a few minutes?” Orion says with a nervous laugh.

“You have until I get down there~.” Your girlfriend sings, only briefly stopping her smooching approach towards his groin.

As you start kissing all around his neck, the boy groans. “This night just keeps getting better…”

‘I know that feeling.’ You think as you press your lips against his throat. You’re bracing yourself for a long night as well, because you can tell Rose is in the mood for a lot more fun. You’re relieved to see that she seems to like the quiet young man as much as you do, and that she’s happy to do this again sometime, probably very soon. As for a more permanent arrangement… Well, like she said, you’ll have to wait and see. For now though, time to make this amazing night even better, for everyone involved.

Word from the author: Bit of a shorter chapter to close out this Shift, which went on a lot longer than I thought it would. Speaking of, I recently remembered that I had originally planned for Shifts to only ever be one or two chapters each. That was cute. Hell, that was back when my chapters were WAY shorter too. I can safely say that that is out the window, and Shifts will just keep being as long as I need them to be. Though because it’s been a while since we’ve been back with Red at this point, I feel the need to spell out our path forward just a little. We have two more Shifts before getting back to Red, and both will be multi-chapter ones for sure, so we’re still a little ways away from being back with our protagonist.
