How's training go?
Surprisingly well
After a quick breakfast of some fruit, and something you'd assume was oatmeal in any other context, your group makes its way to the rooms you are now referring to as the armory. Dawn, at your request, helps each of the women into a suit of armor. You figure it wouldn't be a bad idea to train in the armor so they can get as much training while suited up as possible. Plus maybe in the event of an accident the armor will offer some protection. Fortunately the suits are easy to maneuver around in, and the girls don't seem to have any issues. The next part is the hard part. Firearms. The group makes its way to one of the boxes at your direction. You open the box and pull out one of the semiautomatic rifles. It doesn't have a magazine attached to it, but you pull the bolt back to verify the chamber doesn't have a bullet in it anyways, as you've been taught over and over.
You begin with the basics. You teach them to treat every gun as if it is loaded, even if they just checked that it isn't. That means your finger never touches the trigger until you are about to fire, the safety is always engaged until you are about to fire, and it is never aimed at anything you don't intend to kill. You also go over some rules of shooting like making sure you are conscious of what is past your target, so you don't kill someone standing behind your target. Taking some ammo, some empty magazines, and a gun your group makes its way outside where you find a nice mound of dirt to shoot at. You show them how to load the magazine, how to load the magazine into the rifle, and how to charge the chamber. Taking aim at the mound you unload three bullets into it so they can hear what it sounds like as well as see what it looks like.
You briefly go over what to do in case one of the bullets jams or doesn't fire. Dawn starts to say something in the comm channel through your suit, but tells you to nevermind, which you find odd but you continue on. You then ask for a volunteer to be the first to try shooting. Unsurprisingly Rene is the first to step up to the plate...so to speak. You watch her load and charge the gun, and give her pointers on what to expect and how to properly hold it to aim. CRACK CRACK CRACK. From the puffs of dust it appeared her grouping was actually pretty solid, and you watch her apply the safety, remove the magazine, and check to see if there was a bullet in the chamber. Seeing it was empty she handed the gun back to you.
"Little bit louder and a bigger kick then that crossbow eh" you ask her smiling. She nods wide eyed at you, but has a grin on her face.
"Who's next" you ask the group. One by one each of them go through the steps of handling and firing the weapon with various efficiency and accuracy. For the next few hours you go through the box of ammo finding various items to aim at. Most proficient so far was clearly Rene. She seemed to have an uncanny knack for handling the rifle. Both Yvette and Jane seemed fairly even on handling the new weapon, with Annabel and Nadine being the least comfortable. Overall as you walked back to the armory you were happy with their progress and also happy to see they fully understood the deadliness such a weapon entailed.
"Just remember everyone. The moment you take any of the safety I've taught you so far for granted is the moment accidents happen, and unfortunately an accident with a weapon like this can result in serious harm or death. I'm not trying to scare you, but you always have to respect these weapons, and I just want to make sure we make every effort to ensure none of us harm each other with them. I'm very impressed with all of you as always, so congratulations on a job well done" you tell the group with a smile. They each shyly smirk at each other. Getting back to the armory Dawn helps show you all how to disassemble the rifle, clean it, and reassemble it. The most interesting thing you notice different with these guns are that they don't use the excess energy to reload the next bullet, but rather they use a spell to cycle the mechanics of the gun. Examining the spell it is a simple force spell on various parts that are triggered when the trigger is pulled. The other thing you found absolutely amazing, was the gun didn't use gunpowder at all. Inside each bullet was a spell that exploded, triggered by the firing pin, which had its own spell on it, contacting the bullet primer.
This revelation meant that not only could a bullet not misfire without the trigger being pulled, but it also allowed bullets to effectively stay in storage for centuries without any worry of degradation. Something you were actually worried about previously. The other thing this meant is bullets traveled significantly faster, and ammunition was safe from things like fire or explosives hitting it. Certainly it would ruin the ammunition, but a secondary explosion was not a risk. You quickly examined the explosive spell and the spell on the firing pin committing them to memory. You'd practice the explosive spell a bit later. You had a few ideas how to use it whirling through your mind, but before you could do that you were asked a question.
"Do you think we can practice some sparing" Yvette asks batting her eyes at you. You chuckle and nod your head in response.
"If I may" Dawn says grabbing your attention. She leads you over to the wall of melee weapons, and you watch as the wall recesses in and another wall raises up in front of it full of weapons that look like they are made of carbon fiber. You take a longsword off the wall and run your finger over its blade and note it is dull. You raise an eyebrow at Dawn who only smirks in reply.
"You know, eventually you're going to have to tell us all of what is in this facility right" you state with a chuckle.
"What, and give away all my secrets" she says smirking "You'll get bored with me" she adds pouting. You step closer to her and pull her tightly against you and bring your mouth right next to her ear.
"There is no chance I'll ever get bored with you" you whisper and then nibble her ear. You feel her shiver slightly in your grip and let out a light moan in response. Stepping back Dawn is biting her lower lip and looking like she would very much like to fuck you right there, but you just chuckle and blow her a kiss.
"Alright, pick your weapons. Who's first" you ask grabbing a longsword and a shortsword to try out what dual wielding feels like. Yvette grins at you and steps forward grabbing a shield and longsword. You both take a moment to feel the weight and balance of the weapons. To you they feel about right compared to their metal counterparts so you both take a few steps back from each other and set your stances. You were looking forward to it. This would be the first real sparring between the both of you without it just being longsword versus longsword.
Who wins?
