The War of four Flags

Chapter 3 by Eismann Eismann

It started with small attacks. Orc hunters disappearing, small scouting groups being found dead. Every time an orc tribe met another, they had new stories to tell of the escalating aggression of the other races. One day the Grimtusk tribe, a group of orcs indulging in their gods rage to the point of it being almost a recreational activity, discovered two dozen of their men hung from trees while travelling along the edges of an elves forest. Their attack that day was reckless, their judgement blinded by their anger. Many orcs and elves died and finally there was a pretense to declare war on the orcs.

All over the world tribes of orcs were hunted by armies of dwarves, humans and elves. That does not mean that the orcs made it easy for them though. Despite their disadvantage in numbers, equipment and organization, they pushed back with raw strength and ushakeable determination. For years the wars dragged on but eventually tribe after tribe fell and was slaughtered. Finally there was only one left, the Ironhide tribe, who dug their heels in inside a captured dwarven fortress. For three whole months they resisted the siege. The dwarves however were cunning and used hidden paths to lead groups of invaders into the backline during an attack on the fortress wall. The Ironhide tribe fell, the last of the orcs were defeated.

The elves insisted on enslaving the tribes survivors to humiliate them further. The humans agreed under the condition that some of their priests and paladins may guard the camps together with the elves. The dwarves didn't object either and crafted unbreakable collars to be put on the necks of the orcs. The elves agreed to all conditions and added one themselves; They would cast a powerful curse on the Ironhide tribe and all their future children, to make them weaker and rid them of the green in their skin which made them resistant to magic.

Thus the slavery of the orcs began.
