Say goodbye to your old lives!

“Now,” Angela said, “Let’s get started. Follow me!”

Angela led them outside, up to what looked like a security checkpoint.

“Please place all your personal effects in the bins. They’ll remain here for the duration of the show.”

The women reluctantly parted with their purses and cell phones, placing them in the plastic bins provided. The process looked almost painful to some of them.

“Wonderful!” Angela continued. “Let’s continue.”

They walked down a sidewalk to a large detached building. It looked like maybe some kind of guest house, but it was as big as a mansion itself. It was in the same modern metal and concrete architectural style as the main house. Angela walked them through an industrial metal double door, down a hallway made of concrete blocks and exposed pipes, turning this way and that in a disorienting manner. Finally, they reached a room where a row of booths was set up. Each had an open door and was completely dark inside.

“Everyone, pick a changing room and head on in.”

The women looked at the booths in confusion, then hesitantly walked up to them and closed the doors. They stood in darkness for a moment. Then, the lights flickered on, illuminating their surroundings. Inside each room were a bench, a mirror on the door, a bin on the floor, and a small white piece of fabric hanging from a hook.

What the women didn’t know was that the moment the lights went on, the doors became transparent from the outside. What looked like a regular mirror to the contestants inside the changing rooms was actually a two-way mirror that functioned as a window for the audience to see in. In addition, tiny cameras hidden throughout the walls and floor captured the women from above, behind, the side, and below, no matter which way they turned or what position they were in. The whole setup gave the women the illusion of privacy, while the reality was anything but.

Angela’s voice came from outside. “Take off all your clothes.”

The women, still somewhat disoriented, awkwardly complied. They pulled off their shoes and socks, their outer layers, stripped down to their bras and panties, removed all their accessories, and finally took off their underwear, leaving them completely exposed.

Angela gave her next order: “Place them in the bin.”

The woman uncomfortably gathered their garments and dropped them into the provided containers.

“Slide the bin under the door.”

They did so. The women saw the bins disappear, picked up by some unseen stagehands. They watched in apprehension as the last scraps of their old lives were literally taken away.

“Look in the mirror,” Angela told them.

The women complied. They beheld their naked bodies, just as millions of viewers did. The host said nothing else for a while. The women were left waiting, uncomfortably alone with their own nudity for, what felt at least, like a long time.

A series of confessional interviews appeared on the screen:

Naomi: "I honestly had no idea what was going on."

Haylee: "It's like, they kept us waiting, and waiting."

Chrissy: "Total power move. As pissed off as I am, I kind of respect them."

Brenna: “Holy shit… This feels real now.”

Vivian: "Is that it? We just get our clothes taken away forever?"

Penelope: "Are they going to make us walk around naked so soon?"

Kiki: "I could live with that."

At last, they once again heard Angela’s voice from the other side of the door, saying: “There’s one more thing I need you to do.”
