Chapter 13
by reaper13
Can Liandra warn Altima in time?
No
The shadow demon was exactly what it’s name said it was, a shadow. It crawled across the surface of the cave like any shadow creep. Liandra saw it in but a split second and was not fast enough to warn Altima.
The shadow demon threw itself on the rangeress and enveloped her entire body. It crawled into her, possessed her mind and took control.
“My my,” Altima said. “Look what we have here. A few heroic adventurers.”
This was not Altima speaking, Liandra saw it in her eyes. They had been taken over by a blackness.
“Where are my manners.” Said the shadow demon through Altima’s mouth. “My name is Shadow, and I shall be your host for tonight.”
Shadow then took a look at the body he inhabited and grabbed it’s breasts. “Well, hostess this time, I presume.”
Nariel ran up to Shadow and swung his blades to her. Shadow created a shadowy shield on Altima’s arm and used it to protect himself.
“Foolish elf.” Shadow spoke. “Don’t you know that if you wound me, you will only hurt your precious friend.”
“I know, Nariel, replied. That is why I’ll only knock her out.” After which he hit Altima with the pummel of one of his daggers.
The hit made Altima lose consciousness and her body slumped down.
The shadow demon however was not out of commission. It jumped out of Altima and latched on to Nariel instead.
“Silly elf.” Nariels mouth said as his eyes glowed up with black energy. “I guess that’s one down, and three to go.”
The possessed Nariel now turned itself on Calcifer.
Calcifer was not as easy a prey as the elf was. He aimed his finger at Nariel and shot a lightning both at him.
“Quick Liandra, we need light and lots of it.” Calcifer called out.
“What? How?” Liandra asked in panick.
“Use your harp, surely that book must have a melody to create light.”
Liandra quickly started flipping through the pages of her book as ordered. Rodrik however didn’t much like the warlock giving orders to his princess.
“You’re a warlock, can’t you do that?” Rodrik asked him.
“Not enough for this creature.”
The shadow demon now rushed up to Calcifer. The warlock had expected it and summoned a large fire. It stopped the shadow demon in his tracks, but didn’t defeat him.
Suddenly Rodrik leap through the fire and swung his sword towards the shadow.
“No, you fool!” Calcifer yelled at him. But it was too late.
Rodrik swung his sword straight through the shadow and was engulfed by it.
“Muhaha, foolish mortal.” Were the next words spoken from Rodriks mouth.
“Now I am able to cross those flames.” And so the possessed Rodrik jumped back over the flames, now very close to the warlock.
For his next move Calcifer send a frost blast to freeze Rodriks armor shut.
“Hurry Liandra! He can only be defeated with a large amount of light when he is outside a body!” The warlock yelled at Liandra.
“I’ve got it!” The princess called.
She quickly started playing the melody. Her life depended on it.
Shadow summoned some tendrils from Rodriks body and slashed the ice fragments off his armor, freeing himself from his cold prison.
The melody Liandra played began it’s magic. Light slowly grew from the harp.
Calcifer shot another lightning bolt which hit Rodrik in the chest. The guardsman slumped down **** and the shadow demon wasted no time in searching for a new body.
He charged straight in Calcifers and Liandra’s direction.
Did Liandra succeed with her melody, or does one of them get possessed?
