Nowhere is safe anymore

Next day you pay a visit to Giovanni to have a chat with him. He looks terrible, he was locked into one of the rooms of the manor, but the happenings of yesterday must have taken a heavy toll on him. He is just sitting at the corner, staring at the wall, he doesn't say anything as you enter, not even looking at you. He just keeps staring without a word. You feel sorry for him, but you have to know what he knows about what happened, so you make the first steps.

Lily: Giovanni... I am sorry for what has happened to Cornelia... I know it must be hard for you...

Giovanni: I loved her more than you know... She might have been unfaithful once or twice, even spending a few nights with Duchess Julia... But I never cared about those, as she was always a caring wife, despite her habits of doing unethical things from time to time.

Lily: But why would she attack me like she did...? How have I offended her so badly?!

Giovanni: I'll tell you everything. I have nothing more to lose. As we were travelling from city to city during the last year, we were offered accommodation by one of the local nobles. We had barely been spending a few days there, when a mysterious nun appeared, preaching about all sorts of idiocy, like the world will be doomed because of our immorality and we must be purified. Nonsense all of it! But Cornelia was captured by her words, after listening to her, she decided to change her lifestyle and never engage in the same affairs she used to. At first, I didn't think much of it, bit later, it got more and more serious! She refused to do her duties as my wife, saying that the nun told her not to, so that her soul may be further purified!

Lily: I know the feeling...

Giovanni: Days passed, then we got news about you. A message was sent to the nun, that you have successfully arranged for the arrest of a similar nun, Sofia. I couldn't express my joy when I learned, that some are still ready to fight these false preachers! When the nun read out the letter, she ordered Cornelia to follow her into a private room. She never told me what happened in there, but she got her hairpin during that meeting. If only I knew it wasn't just a hairpin...! She was changed somehow... I mean, changed further... I couldn't let her be further poisoned by that witch! So that evening, I put some sleeping **** into Cornelia's tea and kidnapped my own wife. We left during the cover of darkness, nobody noticed us I believe. I never told her, but I was heading straight to your estate, to find protection from that crazy witch!

Lily: That's kind of you to come looking for me for help! I wish I could have prevented what happened... I guess, Cornelia didn't take it well, when she woke up and found herself far away from the place she fell asleep...

Giovanni: She was unexpectedly calm! It was strange for me, I wasn't expecting it! Should have been smarter, the nun must have planned your **** with her earlier and I was the one who unknowingly provided her the opportunity to get right to you! Forgive me for my foolishness!

Lily: No need to ask for anything, you thought you were doing the right thing!

Giovanni: Yes, I though so...! She was returning to normal during our journey to your manor, as if the whole preaching thing never occurred! But it was all a deception...! She was used by that witch bitch! She is the one who got my dear Cornelia killed! I want that fucking order of nuns burnt at the stake!

Lily: I will do what I can, but first, can you tell me anything you know about them? Anything?

Giovanni: I don't know much... They are organised, they are like a sect or something! Cornelia was often called the chosen one by the nun, she was often offered private prayers. She was sharing her newfound beliefs with enthusiasm with me, even though, I never really liked any of it. She told me there is a secret convent high up in the mountains somewhere. They are **** noble ladies to turn them into obedient sexslaves!

Lily: I have already heard of that place... Do you know anything more about it?

Giovanni: Unfortunately no... All else I know is that the order is run by a man, named the Seperd. He has organized everything that happened, must be up to no good!

Lily: Hmm, it seems Sofia wasn't the leader of this sect after all! Thank you for the information! We are going to find that man and that convent and put an end to all of this! This I swear!

Giovanni: Thank you Lady Lily! For the sake of Cornelia, this must be stopped!

Lily: I have no intention of keeping you a prisoner, you were put in here to prevent you from doing anything rush or... worse. You will be allowed to settle down with my serfs and you could become my new stableman!

Giovanni: Thank you, may god bless you over a thousand times! I'll repay this kindness one day!

Lily (handing him a cup of water): Here, I have also brought this to you, you should stay hydrated!

Giovanni (after taking the cup): Thank you again, I haven't drunk anything since yesterday morning!

He drinks all the water inside and gives the empty cup back to you. He opens his mouth as if he was going to say something, but nothing comes out of his mouth. He is gasping for air and grabs his throat. You scream for help, your guards run into the room from outside, but they can't help the man. Robert rushes in to check on him and finds symptoms of arsenic poisoning.

Robert: My lady, this is way too much! We cannot stay here, clearly the manor has been infiltrated! We cannot know whom to trust in these times! We should head to somewhere else, a place that hasn't been compromised!

Lily: I cannot just leave like that! It is my duty to safeguard my subjects from similar dangers!

Robert: In this case, you are the only one in danger, so for your sake, I beg you, depart this place as soon as possible!

Lily: I offer an alternative that could work for us both! We are going to go and find the hideout of this order and put an end to it! I'll be leaving this place and the order will be stopped! Everybody benefits!

Robert: And how are you going to do that my lady? My Templar brothers have already conducted an investigation and found nothing of use!

Lily: I might have a better way of doing the information gathering, I'm sure we will find something on our way to the Pyrenees! Tell the knights to prepare, we are setting out this afternoon!

Robert: I don't like this... But it'll be as you commanded!{endif}
