Chapter 34 by Legionaire9
Can he be saved?
Wars arent fought alone
As the axe continued its downward arc, the light gleaming off its razor edge, suddenly a blur flew past him and deflected the axe. As he focused he saw that it was Marshon, minus her heavy armor. She now wore a simple cloth undershirt and trousers and had kept her bracers. As he watched her, the only thing Midnight could think was that she had beautiful caramel skin. With the sword and her loose clothing, she looked like a Middle Eastern dancer as she twirled and buried her sword in the soldiers neck. As more soldiers moved in, she continued twirling, parrying and slicing until she had dropped three more soldiers. As the rest kept their distance, she took a low stance, resting her blade on the bracer. But even with the breathing room, there was no way they could make it out.
"Marshon."
"Shut up and thank me later. I still need you to get my best friend back."
He sighed and shook his head. God he was a fool.
"Listen. I'm a bastard."
She chuckled. "You'll hear no argument from me there. Cant you ghost out of here?"
"I can. You can't." As he said it, she spared a glance back and seemed stunned by his concern. "So here is what we are going to do. I'm going to give you a final order. Go back down these alleys and disappear. If you can get around to the door, you can knock and get your friend out. And then get out of the castle."
"It'll never work. Your orders were for us to defend these locations to the ****."
He grinned as he sharpened his tentacles and swung at an approaching soldier.
"Those orders will lose affect after my ****, and you know as well as I do that I wont last long against this horde."
Marshon gritted her teeth trying to resist the order. "Fuck that. The only person who gets to kill you is me for that stunt in the tower."
"Its me or your friend and we both know the decision. Seems I overestimated myself, but I'm not dragging you down too. Obey my orders and GO!"
With a soft dammit, she sheathed her blade and turned to run. As the soldiers closed in, he readied his remaining tentacles. Goddammit he really was a worthless bastard. Hopefully Raquel, Dana and Malena would make it out. And maybe forgive him. As the forces of light rushed his position, he braced himself for the onslaught.
It never came. As they approached, a cool shoadow passed overhead, and in the next moment, a hail of arrows killed the first 50. As he and the forces of light turned in stunned silence, they saw that goblins had lined the walls and rooftops, led by a familiar figure wreathed in flame and wearing a chainmail bikini.
"Well it was close, but it seems you can do the impossible so I guess my deal with you holds." Flicking her tail excitedly, Halicarnassus was clearly enjoying herself. Midnight straightened up and offered a tired smile.
"As you can see, I left you some work to do. Hope thats not a problem?"
With a predatory mocking smile, she turned her attention to the soldiers crowded below. "Hmmm? Oh these roaches? Not at all. I suppose we should remove them. Grez, take care of this?"
The lead goblin nodded and waved his hand forward, followed by all the goblins opening fire. While the soldiers did their best to lock shields, half the goblins were up high enough to shoot over the shield and the formation quickly collapsed into small units, with half attempting to flee and half rushing the walls. As her troops opened fire, Halicarnassus dropped off the wall flanked by two male demons. While a squad approached, they were quickly dispatched by her escorts as she approached Midnight. Killing the few soldiers surrounding him, Midnight met her in the middle.
"Have you seen any of the girls?"
"Yes, the two brunettes joined up with us on the wall. They should be close. We havent seen the redhead yet. She may be barricaded in the main hall with the civilians."
He nodded. "If my plan worked, they wont be an issue. Before we see, i need to collect two other slaves from the armory."
As he turned to go, he noticed a young soldier sneaking up behind the Grand Succubus. Readying a tentacle, Halicarnassus suddenly beat him to the punch as she whipped her tail, wrapping it around the soldiers neck. Dropping the short sword as he clawed at his throat, he reveals his face and Midnight immediately recognized him as the soldier from the tower that he called a rabbit.
Sensing his stare, Halicarnassus turned around and eyed "You know this one?" You shrug. "Just a rabbit that got away from me earlier. Didnt think he would have the courage for something like this."
She brightens as she puts on her best sultry face and approaches, running a clawed hand under his chin and another gently stroking his manhood. As his eyes begin to go wide, she purred deeply. "You should have kept running my little bunny." As she drew him into a long and passionate kiss, her hand slipped to the underside of his manhood and began to knead his balls with expert precision. Even from his position, Midnight could see as his mouth bulged from her tongue's exploration and as she picked up her pace, she began to slide the back of her hand up the length of his crotch. Clearly this young man was a virgin and had no willpower because it took mere seconds for him to begin shaking as he came. While that happened, the color began to drain from his eyes until his brilliant blue eyes were a dull gray. As he stopped shaking, she released her hold and withdrew her long serpentine tongue. As she released him, the soldier simply stood there, now no more than a withered husk. Halicarnassus licked her lips. "It feels good taking something that you had probably intended to take." Waving the soldier away, she simply stated "go kill the soldiers of light." With a howl, he drew his sword and charged into the nearest pack of soldiers. All in all it had been quite the display. Against any regular soldier, clearly the grand succubus could not be taken lightly.
Turning towards the armory door Midnight saw that the crowd had already mostly dispersed, either slain, or retreating into the byways and heading back to the keep. As he approached, he quickly made out the figure of Marshon beating on the door as he approached.
"Dhaelia! Open the door!"
Of course there was no response, she was still following his last order.
"Marshon, hang on." As she turned, she noticed him approaching flanked by devils. "You're alive." She actually seemed relieved to find he wasnt dead. That was surprisingly comforting. "She wont answer."
"She's still following my orders. One sec. Dhaelia! This is your master. The fight is over. Come out."
There was a clatter of armored feet, the sound of boards being moved and then the door was thrown open to reveal Dhaelia, with her helmet off and tears streaming down her face. As soon as she saw her, Marshon ran and threw her arms around her and did her best to comfort her. Deciding to leave them be, Midnight turned. "Hali, how goes the invasion?"
She started as he used her pet name but recovered. "Far from over. The tower and the main banquet hall remain. Fully a third of the enemy forces are unaccounted for and their leaders are still at large."
"Then its going well. Assuming Raquels part went off correctly, everyone in the dining hall will have been poisoned. I cleared the central tower, wiped out the mages, and all the leaders are either dead or in my custody."
With eyes wide, Halicarnassus began to flick her tail faster, almost resembling a joyful puppy. "You might just be a champion of darkness."
With a smile, you turn and lead the way to the central dining hall with the last of the forces of light inside followed by the horde of goblins and devils at your back.
How did Raquel do?
