Battle Time

“So just a 2v2?” Red suggests, checking the time again.

You laugh, “If you’re in a hurry, you could just pay us now.” Except that’s not what you want. You want him to battle, you want him to win. Diane is at your side, she seems tense, you hope she doesn’t say anything.

Red chuckles, “I’ve been waiting for the chance to battle ever since we met. I just wish we had time to go all out, maybe next time.” He walks away giving enough space for the battle to take place.

You and Diane each toss out a pokemon, while Red throws out his two. Diane’s Venusaur and your Marowak against his Charizard and Tauros. Diane squeezes your hand before separating from you, ready to battle. You can see the determination burning in her eyes. You can’t throw this, you realize she won’t back down, she wouldn’t beg Red or reveal our hardship to him, but you’re afraid of what she’d say or do if she thought you threw the match.

“Leech seed!” Diane opens the battle. A couple tiny seeds hit Red’s Charizard and sprout to wrap his ankles in tiny tendrils.

You stop staring at her, and try to get your head in the game. If Red is meant to father your child, he’ll have to earn it. “Marowak, dig!”

“NATE! NO!” Diane shouts at you.

You turn to her confused, but you realize just barely too late. “Sorry about this, Nate. Tauros, Earthquake.” The bull pokemon stomps his front foot causing the ground to shake all around you. You felt so stupid, you’d watched his battle against Bedelia where he dominated her team with his Tauros, before he dominated her.

Marowak doesn’t resurface, the doubled damage was just too much. You recall your fainted pokemon. So much for 2v2, Diane is about to get double teamed, and not in the fun way. “Shit, sorry babe,” you didn’t intend to lose that easily, or maybe you did was it your subconscious?

A blast of fire flies at Venusaur, but a protective light screen helps reduce the damage. She expertly controls her pokemon, dodging as best she can. Tauros lands a zen headbutt but pulls away with leech seed tendrils around its horns. “Synthesis,” Venusaur is commanded, and you watch as Diane uses the bulk of her pokemon to its max benefit.

Red’s pokemon are slowly leeched, and Diane moves to the next step of her strategy. “Poison powder.” Diane’s war of attrition looks to be working, is she actually going to beat Red? Charizard is suffering from both the poison and leech seed. Tauros is poisoned as it charges through the powder cloud for another zen headbutt.

Venusaur sustains itself with synthesis. “This is a lot of fun. I’m glad I’m finally getting to battle you.” Watching Diane battle Red, you feel bad that you made such a stupid mistake early on. You’d probably have been able to easily take Red together, but Venusaur is slowly slipping.

A missed fire blast, gives Diane an opening. “Venoshock.” Charizard is drenched in a purple ooze that interacts with his poisoning. Charizard falls from the air, crumpled on the ground, the battle is suddenly a 1v1.

“You’ve got this!” you cheer.

Diane looks to you with a soft smile, she’s knows she’s got this. But Red’s bull charges forward, can Venusaur survive another headbutt? Diane steadies herself, “Frenzy plant!” Her ace move. She isn’t sure about Venusaur’s survival either. The ground around the vegetated dino erupts in a flurry of vines and roots. Green and brown flying from everywhere.

Tauros dodges one vine, jumping over a root, another vine barely missing. And BAM! The horns of Red’s partner slams into Diane’s Venusaur. The vines and roots crumble around them and the pokemon faints. Diane and Red both recall their pokemon and Red returns to you and Diane.

“That was amazing,” he beams. “I just wanted to thank you both. Not just for the battle, but what you did back in the day. If you hadn’t pulled me in that day, who knows how long it would’ve taken me to realize the fun to be had in the system.”

He puts out a hand for a handshake, and you firmly return the gesture. “Ha, no problem,” you answer.

“Most men already know that part coming through, we mostly teach the respect and caring beliefs, but I think you already had those in spades,” Diane chimes in, pulling Red in for a hug. Red keeps his arm around Diane’s shoulders as the hug ends.

“So would we prefer the privacy of inside or?” he trails off, his hand slipping down to Diane’s chest. His hand gripping her boob through her shirt, the other side of her crop top riding up in the process revealing a delicious view of Diane’s underboob.
