Deadly bullet

Having found your sacrifice, you proceed with the plan. All you have to do now is try to attract the helicopter's attention by creating activity in that direction and having them fly over to investigate.

And, of course, the increased activity with random werewolves jumping from one house to another attracted their attention immediately. And it wasn't just the helicopters that turned their attention to that part but also the infantry.

"Do it now!"

"What's taking so long?"

"I am working on it ... almost there..."

"They are getting close!"

"Well.. here goes nothing..."

Trying to surround them was probably one of the worst mistakes the commander has made. Despite the delay, Ricky eventually activates the node, causing the entire building to explode.

The ground shakes, and thick plumes of smoke rise as concrete blocks are thrown in every direction. The first helicopter, which was near the building, was blown out of the air. The rotor blades snap in two, making it lose altitude immediately. The ground offers no protection to its crew, as it bursts into flame upon contact. The other one was a little further away, but you were lucky as the debris and **** of the explosion caused enough damage to **** it to land nearby.

"RUN!" You order them over the radio, but the message isn't received. It looks like the blast damaged your equipment as well. So much for almighty magic power.

Despite the failure, the pack was prepared for the explosion, giving them an advantage in the aftermath. As the humans pick themselves up off the ground and try to regain their bearings, the werewolves take action. They jump from every building and start running with a specific goal in mind: escape in the opposite direction.

You join the fray and run towards the exit. Gunshots start blasting from behind you, making you search for Jenny. You would feel better if you could spot her, but she was fine before the explosion, so she must still be fine.

You do spot Leyla, so you approach her and start running together. A section of the fence is bulldozed to the ground by angry werewolves, leaving a big hole in it. In the heat of the moment, you fail to spread out and make it harder for humans to hit you. That hole attracts the rest of the pack in that direction, grouping the escapees as they seek the path of least resistance.

Some get hit but keep running, while others fall to the ground, never to rise again. In desperation, you keep running, dragging Leyla after you. Once you make it out and are at a reasonable safe distance away, you stop and turn around to look for Jenny.

Werewolves keep running, but Jenny is nowhere to be seen.

"Shit... I have to go back..."

"What? No!"

"But I didn't see Jenny anywhere..."

"She went further than me. She was closer to the exit. If there is anyone who survived, it is her." Leyla tries to convince you while pulling on your arm to stop you from doing something stupid.

You see countless guns flash in the distance, so you realise that it will not end well if you go back. But what if she is injured? What if, because you hesitate, you lose her? You can't accept that! You've dove once before into danger in order to save her; what's one more time?

You grit your teeth, ready to throw Leyla's hand off and jump back into the battlefield, but you stop when you hear Jenny yelling "Max!" from behind.

When you turn around, you see her waving at you, clearly indicating that you should move your ass.

"See, what did I tell you?" Leyla was right. You were stupid again.

You sigh with relief as you make your way towards her, but before you can take two steps, you see a bullet hit her. The impact is so powerful that her whole frame spins, making her fall to the ground.

"NOOOO!" You take off sprinting towards her. Your vision tunnels as you completely ignore everyone and everything else. You can barely hear Leyla calling your name as she chases after you.
