Void

Astonishingly, the substance disappears as soon as your fingers touch it! Shocked, you pull you fingers out, put them in deeper, even shake the jar. There's NOTHING in there. The cute blonde girl sitting next to seems more irritated by your antics than anything. You turn to her and ask for help.

"Did I do something wrong? Mine's gone!" You look at her pleadingly, and you think her sharp visage softens, just a little.

"You didn't break it, dummy. You have an affinity with the void element."

"Void..element?" You didn't even know that was a thing! "What's that?"

"Ugh, you really are clueless aren't you?" Yes. Yes you were. Thankfully she continued to speak before you could say as much. "The void element is an absence of elements. Sort of like how your head is absent of any intelligent thoughts. I think it suits you."

You stare at her dumbly, which you quickly realize only proves her point. You resign yourself to sulking until the professor shows up. Soon enough you hear her clacking heels approach your table.

"Miss Ashcroft" the teacher exclaims, "you have such a strong affinity with fire! I'm sure your family would be very proud. I can't wait to see what you show us this year." You think you see a smug smile on the blonde sitting beside you.

"And you.." The professor turns to face you. "It seems absence is in your nature. Do be sure not to be late again. Since you missed my introduction, I'm Professor Aspecta. Now, the void element is incredibly tricky to master. To do so will require an understanding of all other elements. As such, you will have the heaviest coarseload of anyone here. I do hope you can handle it."

With that she dismissed the class and gave a simple homework assignment: show off your mastery with one of your elements (apparently most people have a dual affinity.) Simple for everyone else that is.. you don't even know where to start! You can't exactly show up with nothing...or can you? You turn to the girl beside you for help. "Miss Ashcro-!"

"Harmony"

"What?"

"My name's Harmony." She turned to leave.

"But-"

"Figure it out yourself." And she walked away.

You weren't sure what you were going to do about the assignment. Your roommate was in class with you so you think you could ask her for help. Or, you could always see the professor after hours. That thought scared you a bit. She didn't seem to like you. Either way, that would be a question for later. You had a class to get to and you weren't about to be late again.
