A Dive into Reality

They were watching you. There, from the distance, on the other side of the valley. Dozens of enemies, hundreds of eyes, multiple races. All focus on you, all waiting in a formation, ready to be unleashed like a massive pack of mad dogs.

All wanting you and yours to be dead.

You were so close. So close to ending it, so close to leaving it all in the past and moving on with your life. Loving peacefully. Retiring. Ending this long overdue adventure.

You failed.

You looked down. The ground was much closer than you last remembered. You were lying on your knees, your shaky arms providing you with an unsteady foundation. The pool of metallic liquid was gathering under you. You were bleeding, and the blood along with some other substance was mixing on the ground. You looked at your right hand. The bracelet that once burdened it was melting, turning into smoke and liquid. Your last ally was dead...

You looked around. Nobody else was there. Nobody but him. Walking away from you with his curved sword, the man that's been responsible for it all. The man that was letting himself being played by the forces much stronger than all of you. The man who happily took the mantle of the destroyer to pierce through the one thing that drove this world forward and held it back at the same time. The man who with joy went out of his way to upset the balance.

He did not say anything. Did not gloat or bantered you before you were gone. And you felt the end was nigh.

But you held on. You stayed up for as long as possible, you refused the **** to take you, after all She hasn't even shown herself yet. The last tiny strands of strength, will and hope, the flame trying it's best to continue burning.

And then, right before you passed out, you heard her.

"David, I'm here for you."

"David?"

The concerned voice asked. You were lying down on something soft. The beating of the heart reminded you that you were still alive.

You raised your head to see Kelaras concerned face, near yours.

"Are you okay?" She asked

You looked around and saw the familiar face. Saw everyone that decided to stay and hold on to you.

And you couldn't hide a smile combined with a soft sigh of relief.

You were safe.
