Battle the man!

"You leave me ****..." I whispered, backing up as I pulled out the only Pokeball I had that meant anything. Chikorita wasn't at her best right now, but I was not going to be scammed like this. My mother would never put up with it, and neither would I.

"Fine. It's your body." said the man as he took some distance, readying his own Pokeball and tossing it the moment I did as well. An explosion of red fury revealed the man had a rat-like Pokémon under his care, and the large fanged creature hissed as it screamed its own name. Switching my Pokedex on, the automated machine read off the name "Rattata", along with the fact that it was a very basic Pokémon. I had heard of these vermin from Elm himself, who hated dealing with them in the basement of his old lab.

There was a tense silence as I stared at the man, the both of us watching to see who would give the first command. Finally, after a few minutes, we both moved almost in sync as we commanded our Pokemon to attack the other. The battle was quite fierce, with Chikorita rushing the rat Pokémon with a strong tackle. It became quite clear as the battle continued that the Rattata was much faster, and its speed allowed it to dodge several of powerful tackles from Chikorita.

I stared and hollered on for my Chikorita, knowing what could happen if she failed...
