The bull pokémon also has access to ground moves, so Charmeleon isn't going to be much better than Pidegeotto, and the flying-type has an advantage in speed and agility, which will allow you to hopefully stall out for a little while until you can come up with a solid plan.

You order Pidgeotto forward, and the bird pokémon soars towards Tauros, landing a Peck on the bull's flank before swooping away at your signal before the normal-type has a chance to retaliate. You continue at this for another few attacks, Tauros getting closer to landing a devastating counter-hit each time, as you scan around your environment for an advantage, remembering how well that has served you in some of your previous battles. You restrain yourself from smiling as you lay eyes on what you're looking for; several stalactites hanging from the ceiling of the cave near one of the back walls.

"Pidgeotto, Wing Attack!" you command, and the bird soars at Tauros at full pelt for a frontal ****. You know this will leave you open to an attack; that's the idea. You just hope your loyal bird pokémon can withstand the hit.

Blue takes the bait. "Tauros, Horn Attack!" he calls, and the bull waits for just the right moment before ramming its mighty horns into Pidgeotto as the flying-type swoops in, knocking it to the ground right in front of the bull and, crucially, right in line with the back wall of the cave.

"Pidgeotto, get up!" you cry, putting some false desperation into your voice, which is pretty easy to conjure up given the high-stakes situation you find yourself in. However, while your voice says one thing, your hand says another, signalling to the bird pokémon to stay prone on the ground until the right moment.

Your rival is oblivious to this, and does what you expect him to do. "We got her, Tauros! Wild Charge!" he orders, pointing forward as the bull surges forward, once again generating electrical energy as it runs towards your seemingly-helpless flying-type.

Just as Tauros is about to land the super-effective hit, you signal Pidgeotto to dodge, and the bird soars out of the way just in time. Tauros, unable to control itself at such high velocity, rams into the cave wall, roaring in pain; Wild Charge comes with a cost of recoil damage to the user, and hitting a slab of rock at full acceleration isn't going to do it any favours either. One more big hit should do it! "Pidgeotto, Gust!" you call, blocking out Blue's angry curses as your bird pokémon sends a powerful jet of wind not at Tauros, but at the stalactites above it. Already knocked loose by the bull's charge, the jagged rocks fall from the ceiling at the **** of the flying-type attack, and Blue can do nothing but scream in anguish as Tauros is knocked out by the sheer impact as the rocks connect with its body.
