Third match with your Rival

“Good morning Blue. And yeah, I’ve been awake for a little while. Didn’t want to miss my chance to battle you before you leave.” You greet the blonde as she enters the lobby. She’s clearly still rubbing sleep out of her eyes, which have faint dark circles beneath them, and her sandy hair isn’t combed all the way. It’s kind of cute, seeing her not looking perfect like she usually does. As for her outfit, it’s honestly quite similar to yours; jeans and a dark blue t-shirt, though both articles of her clothing are more form-fitting than yours. They are also fairly practical for spelunking, if she makes it to Mt. Moon today.

“Of course you don’t.” She rolls her tired eyes. “Well then, wanna just get this going now? It’s only… 6:24, but who cares?”

You nod in agreement. “Yeah, no point holding off. I’ll talk to you later Joy, got a battle to win.”

The nurse smiles, then bows to the two of you. “I wish you both luck. May the best trainer win!”

“Yeah, I will, thanks.” Blue quips, and it’s your turn to roll your eyes. Waving goodbye to Nurse Joy, you leave the Pokémon Center alongside your rival. The two of you decide to walk the fifteen minutes to get to the entrance of Route 2, so you aren’t battling in the city. That isn’t against any rules or anything, but it’s considered polite. Once the two of you are just out of city limits, you wordlessly take positions opposite one another.

“Okay, so how many Pokémon are we using, Blue?” You ask, figuring she should decide since she’s the one in the rush.

“Let’s just 1v1. That’s quickest.” Your rival responds.

“Works for me.” Honestly, this is perfect, because looking at her belt, she still only has two Pokémon. Those should still be Squirtle and Spearow, and that means you don’t even need to think about which Pokémon to use… Each of you grip your chosen Pokéball, and prepare for battle!

“Pikachu, I choose you!” You release your electric type, confident she can handle either of Blue’s Pokémon.

“Time to shine, Wartortle!” Blue’s… evolved starter takes the field.

Both of you react in surprise to the opposing trainer’s Pokémon. “You have a Pikachu!?” Blue blanches in shock, clearly concerned about the electric type.

“Yeah… your Squirtle evolved!? When!?” It was still in its first stage after beating Brooke… oh wait. “I see. So you weren’t just out for dinner and some shopping last night, huh?” But she didn’t have Joy heal her Pokémon last night… maybe she got embarrassed by your sex, and just used some Potions in her room or let her partners sleep off the training.

The busty girl smirks. “Nope. Some dumbass told me he was gonna challenge me today ahead of time, so I figured some training was necessary.” This battle may be more difficult than you were expecting. Sure, Pikachu has a type advantage, but that Wartortle is definitely a higher level… Well, all you can do is try!

“Pikachu, Thundershock!” Your yellow rat obliges, and electricity fires out in the turtle’s direction. However, it manages to dodge at a command from Blue. Shit, it’s faster now…

“Water Gun!” The purple Pokémon shoots a gout of pressurized water at your Pikachu, who you command to dodge. This goes back and forth for a while, the two Pokémon being fast enough to avoid each other’s attacks but not fast enough to land one in retaliation. This is going nowhere…

You have one idea, but it’s risky. “Pikachu, stop attacking, focus on dodging and get in close!” Your partner does as you ask, no longer bothering to attack as she jukes around the constant blasts of water in an attempt to close the distance between her and Wartortle. The attacks get harder to dodge the closer she gets, but the nimble rat manages to get in range for your next attack… “Now, hug the turtle!”

“Uh, what?” Blue looks bewildered as your Pokémon dodges one final spurt of liquid and leaps onto the larger purple Pokémon.

“Pikaaaa~” The rat smiles up at her opponent, who looks just as confused as its trainer.

“Why-“ You interrupt your rival with a command. “Thundershock, now!”

“-chuuUUUUU!” With her target unable to avoid this attack, Pikachu begins pumping out electricity at point-blank range. The resulting shock courses through the larger Pokémon, making it spasm in pain. Problem is, the zaps do rebound on your little yellow friend as well, but she takes far less damage. You just have to hope that the Wartortle faints before she does!

“Oh crap! Bite it, Wartortle!” Blue commands in a panic. Uh oh, if this attack connects, it may ruin this plan of yours.

The purple turtle flails its head wildly, until it manages to chomp down onto Pikachu’s ear… which proves to be its undoing. The Bite does hurt your partner, but it also causes the electric current to travel straight into the assaulter’s skull, intensifying the electrocution. Shortly after this, your rival’s starter faints, and you call off your haggard Pikachu.

Picking up your self-shocked partner, you give her a kiss on the head. “Great work, Pikachu. Sorry if that was rough.” The yellow rat nuzzles you affectionately, then you return her to her ball. Blue has already recalled her **** Wartortle, and sighs.

“Well… that happened.” She seems to be struggling for something to say, then sighs once again. “Good strategy. You got me.”

You raise your brows at her, then smile. “Thanks. It was all I could think of against such a powerful opponent.”

She smirks at your complimenting of her starter. “Heh, yup… So um… Listen, whatever you want, can it be quick? I want to get on the road ASAP, so… please?” Blue looks entirely prepared for you to say ‘no, come to my room again’ or something.

You take a deep breath. “Well…”
