Will they stay or leave?
Try out the service industry
“I do like the sound of big tips,” Kat said, glancing over at the clients spread about the large hall. “How does this thing work?”
Damien pointed out the areas as he explained. “Send food and drink orders to that kiosk and they’ll have it out for you. To get your tips, you’ll need to be equipped with tracking collars.”
“Collars?” Kayla questioned.
“It’s easier to see and carry than an ID badge,” Damien explained as he led the group over to a different kiosk. “You’re already scanned in from the locker room. You just do the thumbprint and eyescan over here and it’ll print out a barcode for your collar.”
He demonstrated with his own prints and the kiosk. It only took a minute for his freshly lasered ID collar. The collar looked to be made of actual leather with a metal plate where the barcode was lasered.
“That's a surprisingly nice quality collar,” Kat admitted.
“Only the best for the auction house!” Damien announced. The others took turns getting their collars made and put on. Kayla fidgeted with hers and Wyatt was just as uncomfortable wearing nothing but a neck accessory, but Kat seemed to be owning it.
“Don’t I look cute and sexy?” she asked Wyatt before strutting around, flashing her neckwear and purring like a kitty. “All I need are cat ears!” she giggled. She turned to Damien and asked, “So what next?”
“Well, you round up a client and keep them entertained!” Damien replied. “You can shadow me to get the idea!”
He walked the floor and the others followed. Their host seemed to be a fixture of the viewing room because he was recognized by many of the patrons and exchanged pleasantries with all of them. “Dillon! You scamp! You finally decided to come out for some fun tonight? Barbara! That necklace is absolutely dazzling! You’re going to blind people with all that glitter! Domingo… you’re not betting on results again are you? Put me down for the “Over” on the golden yacht! I’m good for the money, you know it!” He chattered between the guests.
“Well, look what we have here!” called out another guest. It was a silver haired gentleman in a poofy white shirt and red blazer. “Damien, I do believe you’ve picked up some strays…”
“I’m just a magnet for attention!” Damien decried dramatically. He held out his hand and the other man shook it. “Good to see you again, Eduardo! These are actually my friends; Wyatt, Kat and Kayla. They’re joining the service for tonight, so I’m showing them the ropes!”
“Charming!” the silver fox grinned at the group. “So, you’re working tonight?” He asked Damien, hopefully. Damien nodded. “Then, please, freshen our drink and appetizers. I’m afraid we were too much for the previous server.” He tilted his head to the side and they could see a naked server passed out in a pool of bodily fluids. “But, I know you can hold up much better!” he smiled, brushing her hand along Damien’s cheek. As he did this, there was a beep as the older man’s bracelet interacted with Damien’s collar.
“Right away, my friend!” Damien replied, turning away with purpose. He snapped at his friends to follow and they fast walked to keep pace to the refreshment kiosk.
“What was with that beep?” Wyatt asked, when he was within speaking range.
“It’s to pair the client with a server,” Damien explained, pointing to his collar. It had a blue LED on now, which wasn’t on before. This showed that he was on the job for someone. “When you’re connected, you can make orders in their name,”
“So… we can run up their bill and they won’t know?” Kat asked, already starting to scheme.
“It’s all inclusive, so they don’t pay extra. It just keeps people from accessing the amenities without proper authorization,” Damien said.
“Still, free food and drink!” Kat replied.
“Just don’t eat and drink yourself into a stupor,” Damien warned. “It’s open access to everything in here, including you if you’re not conscious enough to say otherwise!”
The friends helped Damien carry the load of drinks and food over to Eduardo’s area. They were each given a tip for their services with a different toned beep to their collar for signaling a tip transfer.
“I’ll be busy entertaining Mr. Montclair for a while,” Damien informed them. “I trust you guys can mill about and find someone to help out as well?”
The three looked at each other.
Who do they go to serve?
