Chapter 7 by HiBeGi HiBeGi

What landed behind Gwen?

Jolyne's Hand

Gwen whipped her body around to face what her Spider-Sense was picking up, and then she saw it. There it was, a disembodied hand, just lying on the grass as if it were meant to be there. It took a second for Gwen to process what she was seeing; she even blinked her eyes a bit to make sure what she had been seeing was real. But once it finally clicked in, Gwen's eyes widened in shock. The superhero quickly turned around to look at her opponent to further confirm if this was reality. Jolyne was clutching her left wrist, or to be more exact, the area right below where the wrist would've been since it, along with the rest of her left hand, was missing. Gwen had accidentally severed Jolyne's arm with her kick.

Ghost-Spider began to panic; she wasn't being unnecessarily brutal; it was just not her style. So, accidentally chopping off her adversary's limb was kind of a big deal. Gwen had mastered how to hold back against an opponent, never striking at full strength due to her enemies typically not being strong enough to survive it, unlike in her earlier days where she had accidentally killed the Peter Parker of her universe when they had fought. Maybe Gwen had underestimated how durable her opponent was, or perhaps she hadn't mastered holding back her strength like she thought she did; either way, she screwed up big time. "I-I'm so sorry!" Gwen stammered a bit as she tried apologizing. Jolyne stood up, still clutching the upper portion of her arm; the stand user's brows furrowed as she watched the Spider-Woman's arm flail forward. "I really mean it! I hadn't had the slightest intention of cutting off your hand like that-"

"You're wrong." Jolyne interrupted, her voice cold and almost bored. A long period of silence fell on the both of them. Jolyne held the same expression, but Gwen's, on the other hand, changed. Her panic had slightly shifted over to confusion.

"I'm...Wrong?" Those were the only words she could muster up in her confused state, essentially just restating what her opponent had said. What the hell did she mean by 'You're wrong'? Wrong about apologizing? And why was she so calm? Jolyne's face didn't match that of someone who just very recently lost a limb; she didn't even look like she was in pain, besides the clutching of her arm. Gwen's head started to hurt, not because of confusion but because her Spider-Sense was still screaming warnings at her.

"You said that you cut off my hand, but that's wrong." Jolyne's voice was no longer cold; instead, it sounded casual. Ghost-Spider was now at a loss for words. So, she hadn't cut off her foe's hand? Then why was it just lying in the grass instead of being attached to....Gwen glanced at Jolyne's arm. It wasn't bleeding. "What had happened was that we simply let it go." Jolyne stated matter-of-factly before she jerked her left arm back. And that was when Gwen's Spider-Sense really started to scream out to her.

Jolyne's disembodied hand clenched into a fist before it was tugged off the ground by an invisible ****, moving toward its owner as well as Gwen's face. Jolyne's powers were a complete and utter mystery to Gwen; the hero had only just figured out that her stand had an effective, but she hadn't had the slightest idea of what it really was. What its true capabilities were. Every stand has a unique ability tailored to it; some can stop time, others can create life, or can make you only speak in lies. 「STONE FREE」's power was on the versatile side; it had the ability to unravel Jolyne's body into threads, with said threads being completely invisible to non-stand users.

As the hand raced toward her, Gwen, despite her shocked state, bent her body backward to avoid the hand from striking her, at least Jolyne's that is. Gwen felt her Spider-Sense still scream out warnings to her as she watched the disembodied hand flyover her face, before she felt an excruciating amount of pain as something crashed into the left side of her face. 「STONE FREE」's left hand had materialized alongside Jolyne's, meaning the superhero had only dodged the weaker of the two. 「STONE FREE」's fist cracked the lens over Gwen's left eye, along with tearing off a good portion of the upper-left half of her mask. As the fist slid off Gwen's face, the hero was sent crashing face-first into the ground, sending some dirt into the air. Ghost-Spider lifted her face off the ground before rubbing the pain-stricken left side of her head. Just when she thought she had conquered those invisible limbs, her foe just had to have a surprise waiting for her. Gwen then felt her Spider-Sense go off again. Quickly looking up, Gwendolyn came face to face with Jolyne's legs. Looking further up, Gwen saw the stand user staring down at her with contempt, now holding onto her now-reattached left wrist as she rotated her hand in a circle before wiggling her fingers to make sure it was secure. "Look at you, down on the ground like an actual spider. You're really living up to your name." The Joestar deadpanned, "Let me help you look more like a spider... A squashed spider, that is."

Gwen attempted to throw herself away from her opponent, but soon felt something strike against her body, pressing her back into the ground. "ORA! ORA! ORA! ORA! ORA! ORA! ORA! ORA!!!" 「STONE FREE」 roared as it unleashed a barrage of kicks on the Spider-Woman's body, each kick causing massive tears in her costume, to the point where her blue bra and underwear began to peek out in sections. The pain was immeasurable; the only thing Gwen could think about was getting out of here. Despite her struggle to keep her eyes open due to the pain, Gwen was able to spot a tree off in the distance and, in an instant, shot out a web toward it. Once the web made contact with the tree, Gwen pulled herself away from the sixth Jojo and her stand. Ghost-Spider soared toward the tree and landed on the top portion of its trunk. Gwen didn't even bother looking down at her outfit; she already knew it was damaged just from the pain she experienced. Her opponent was vastly stronger than her. Gwen looked down at her opponent, who was staring back at her. She needed to put some distance between herself and her opponent so that she could restrategize her approach in this fight. Looking around, Gwen spotted a street light that she could swing from before leaping off of the tree trunk and into the air.

Is Gwen able to escape?
