What's next?
Head to the elevator
Jol headed to the cupboard, where he grabbed Kira. He then said "We need to move. They know our position."
"I should be able to override the elevators. We can change floors."
"Good. If you can take me to the barracks I might be able to gather enough people for a counter attack."
"You think that could work?"
"I think it's the best chance we've got."
"I... guess you have a point. Let's go."
"Alright. Stay behind me."
Jol led Kira down the hallway, with Jol holding his newfound carbine as Kira exchanged glances with the cameras. If someone was in the control room, chances are they were watching their every move. Once inside the elevator, Kira pried the control panel open and plugged it into her wrist-mounted computer. Her fingers tapped rapidly as Jol looked at the emergency brake.
"Just tell me when to pull the brakes."
Kira gave him no reply, apart from a simple nod. As he waited for Kira to work her magic, Jol pictured the firing squad the two might face if the elevator began to travel. Suddenly, the elevator came to live and began to travel upwards, causing Jol's hand to tense on his rifle.
"We're not supposed to be going up."
"Just give me a second." Kira replied.
Jol took a deep breath and shouldered his carbine. He might not live through the night, but he wasn't going down without taking a few with him. He cursed himself for not bunkering down. At least there chances would be slim rather than none. As the elevator continued to climb, Jol reached for the emergency brake, his hand all too eager to pull it.
"Kira?" He asked.
"And.... Done."
The elevator came to a stop, so Jol shouldered his carbine, only for the elevator to start traveling down. As it headed towards its new destination, Jol said "Get behind me."
"Okay."
What will the two encounter?
The Aurum Chronicles
Tales of the Sidus Galaxy
For one hundred or so years, the Sidus Galaxy has been explored by its human empires during their Golden Age of Space Travel. To begin, this led to an age of exploration and discovery, but that all ended upon the discovery of Aurum Planets. These uninhabitable planets contain vast amounts of resources that have made fortunes for those brave enough to mine them. They have also taken many lives, from the hazards that await on the planets themselves, to the wars often fought in their name.
