The Aurum Chronicles

For one hundred or so years, the Sidus Galaxy has been explored by its human empires during their Golden Age of Space Travel. To begin, this led to an age of exploration and discovery, but that all ended upon the discovery of Aurum Planets. These uninhabitable planets contain vast amounts of resources that have made fortunes for those brave enough to mine them. They have also taken many lives, from the hazards that await on the planets themselves, to the wars often fought in their name.

Space itself has become nearly as dangerous as Aurum planets. Disputed territories are common flash points for nations and are defended with explosive ****. Transports for Aurum harvests are juicy targets for boarding parties such as space pirates and specialist commando units. Even space debris or a simple mechanical malfunction can have the gravest of consequences.

As always, such vast wealth comes at a price. War, conspiracies, and rebellions have all challenged the various rulers of the Sidus Galaxy. Diplomacy is often fragile and futile in the long run among the various Empires. Of course, there are also those who serve these empires. Miners, spaceship pilots, engineers, and soldiers who all put their lives on the line for a taste of the treasures of their empire. A select few become legends, but the majority fade away, lost to space and the seemingly endless conflicts fought there. Others dare stand up against the ruling class, taking up arms and waving a pirate flag in hopes of revolution.

In spite of these conflicts, the Sidus Galaxy also contains many mysteries. Many ponder questions such as how humans ended up so spread out in the galaxy before the advent of space travel, or if there are other lifeforms to be found. Others seek Aurum planets, hoping to discover these resource-rich bounties for themselves and keep the Golden Age of Space Travel afloat.

From the trials of space explorers, to the rise of empires, the Sidus Galaxy has many tales to share.
