Invitation to a party

"I take work seriously, as I should." She tapped her hand against his shoulder, smiling, just as the elevator doors opened. "I'm going to sign out now, but I'll catch you before I leave."

As John watched her walk away, his pants felt tighter. The spot where she placed her hand on his shoulder still felt warm, and he would do his best to make sure that no one touched him there for the rest of the day. Her walk was a graceful sashay made up of short, quick steps like she was in a hurry all the time, but she wanted to make sure everyone around her remained mesmerized.

Lisa could tell that it was a jab, but she couldn't help but wonder if Jess was right. Almost immediately, she shook the thought away from her head. She loved her company more than anything, and she wasn't about to let a comment from someone she barely knew ruin her plans.

"Are you free tonight? There's a little party after work, and I was hoping you would show up." John walked up to the subject of his affection as she ate her lunch, taking a seat beside her. When she opened up her mouth to refuse, John shook his head, letting out a chuckle.

"Let me guess, you've got something planned already?" his tone was condescending and his eyes looked down on her. Even though he had a smile on his face, it didn't reach his eyes.
