Shepard is inside

Liara hit the button on the elevator and it rode up to Shepard’s cabin.

Liara took a deep breath as the door opened and she walked slowly towards the entryway. She saw Shepard laying on her bed, looking at a picture. It was a picture of Liara and Shepard that they had taken intimately at the Citadel shore party. Liara frowned as Shepard looked lost in thought.

“Shepard…” Liara said softly as she approached. “Shepard… I…”

Shepard turned to look at Liara. “Liara…it’s been awhile since I’ve seen you. I’m sorry I wasn’t there when you properly woke up. I’ve just been… lost in thought. I know that a lot happened and a lot happened that wasn’t you. But… I also realize that… some of those feelings… emotions… could have been real… I… I just want to give you the fullest opportunity to tell me how you feel. How you really feel. It’s okay if the answer is that you don’t want to continue our relationship. You have that right,” Shepard said. “Just tell me… the truth.”

Liara’s eyes widened. That was the last thing she expected. But she understood Shepard’s position.
