Unexpected Visitor (Step Bro, Taste Test)

Kody was quick to grab his own card, the wolf walked one step forward. As soon as his card was fully pictured he flipped it over, the words slapping him in the face. It was like it wanted him and Caiden to hook up!

“Step Bro; I mean they aren’t related, what’s so wrong about liking it?” Kody was just glad him and Caiden were related or else he might be on board with what was happening between them. And at the same time he loathed the fact they were related, the fact they shared blood making the situation that much worse.

With a glance to Caiden he decided to draw again. He really wanted the game over with. As the card formed Kody’s ear twitched. “Dad?” Greg let go of Caiden, allowing the son to finally sit back down.

“What?”

“Who’s here?” Kody was sure he heard a floorboard creek, and a door open. Greg looked away, his face likely too guilty to get away with anything.

“I don’t know what you mean.” Kody narrowed his eyes, his ears straining to hear the muffled footsteps. “Let’s just get through the cards.”

Kody huffed but flipped his card over anyways. The wolf walked over five spots, it’s tail still drooped. “Taste Test; The only true way to know if you like someone is based on their taste.” Kody bit back a growl as he set the card down.

His brain was swirling with new information based on who he had ‘tasted’. He apparently, that he remembered, had tasted his mother, father, uncle, some random friends from college, and most recently his brother… which he apparently liked a lot. Kody looked back to Caiden, the memory still plaguing his thoughts.

Kody blinked when he noticed a man standing in the doorway to the room. “Is that who I think it is?” Everyone but Greg turned to face Kody. Greg was the only one to turn to Jeff, his face unimpressed.

“Jeff I said not to leave the room.” Everyone once again turned, this time spotting Jeff. Jeff smiled and waved at the family, sweat already forming on his forehead.
