Devour

The ninth round starts with Prismas signal. The Dragon Hybrid and mage immediately attack in unison. I've started to get a feel for their attacks. But on the other hand, my body feels slow and sluggish from all the fighting and attacks I've taken. I dodge the Hybrid's first attack, a punch with his raging wind. I cast Ancient Beast Slash at the mage, destroying his water ball and one of my five slashes. I've become reckless with my MP usage since I'll recover it thanks to Prisma.

The slash hits the mage head-on. I see water shoot out like blood as he stumbles back. I'm surprised he's still alive but quickly turn my attention back to the Hybrid. I cast Annihilating Strike and slash the Hybrid. I've discovered that this is my best spell to cut through its scales but I still don't do as much damage as I'd like.

The Hybrid throws another punch and I jump back. I slide in the water and look up just in time to dodge spikes of water from impaling me. I jump and land right next to the Hybrid, whose already preparing an attack. He tosses his fist into my side and I fall to the ground.

I stand up and Blink back as an image of getting pulled under the water by watery vines appears in my mind. I turn to the mage and cast Dark Chains, Vine Trap, and Ancient Beast Slash.

This slash cuts through the mage and I smile. My smile immediately turns into a face of pain as I get another punch in my side.

I cry out in pain and turn to look at the Hybrid. He's raising his hand and engulfing it in wind. He swings it down to my face and my mind goes blank. I see my hand move in front of me with my open palm facing the Hybrid. The next moment a very large face of dark flames shoots out of my palm. It engulfs and eats the Hybrid. It has bright red eyes and is easily as tall as me, maybe even taller.

The face disappears and a large amount of water falls. I hear Prisma clapping and turn to look at him.

"I'm impressed, Eric. No offense but I never imagined you'd be able to do it today. I had planned on trying to have ten battles tonight, then another ten tomorrow. I thought we'd keep that up until a week at least. But now you've awakened your Nuru." Prisma says and I nod, too sore and tired to move. Prisma chuckles and heals me before continuing. "We'll save the rest for later. Get some rest now." He says before my conscience fades.

"M..st.." I hear a voice call out. "Mast.. co.. .o wake up." The voice continues as I feel myself wake up. I open my eyes and see Asami smiling. She stops gently shaking me when she sees I'm awake. "Sorry, but it's time to get ready. You've slept in." She says and I sit up. I feel my head pounding and Asami notices. "Do you feel okay? Are you sick?" She asks placing her palm on my forehead.

"I'm fine, it's just a headache." I say and she smiles.

"You better hurry then. Breakfast will be done soon and you still need a shower." She says and I nod. I enter my apartment and take a shower. I check my notifications while quickly showering.

Nuru Awakened: Devour Lvl 1

Devour lets you create a monster-like face and jaw made of dark flames. The jaw is lined with large sharp teeth. It will bite down on anything, living, nonliving, or even the dead. The bite deals (Intelligence × 10) as damage. It will heal you for 10% of the damage dealt. MP Cost: 150

Make Gaias RP and Hearts reach their max. Rewards: Two of Five Random Legendary Spellbooks.

Use your Magic Ball on your crown, as well as any others you get. I went through a lot of effort to make that for you. Rewards: One of three random Domain Essences. Time Limit: 24 Hours

I smile and open my Character Sheet. I look through it and see I have 143 Skill Points. I decide to spend them and put 38 into Charisma, just because I'm curious. I add 57 to my Wisdom, and 28 to my Intelligence. I save the remaining 20 points just in case a Spellbook or item needs higher stats. I open my notifications and look at my Milestones.

New Milestone: Charisma 3

You've gotten your Charisma to 100! Rewards: People will trust your words more, to the point where you could convince someone that something they know as a lie is true with a convincing argument.

You've gotten your Wisdom to 200! Rewards: Your high Wisdom increases the rewards from all quests.

New Milestone: Wisdom 9

You've gotten your Wisdom to 225! Rewards: Your high Wisdom allows you to quickly determine an opponent's weak points.

New Milestone: Wisdom 10

You've gotten your Wisdom to 250! Rewards: Your high Wisdom has given you the knowledge to understand most common monsters and their behavior patterns.

New Milestone: Intelligence 11

You've gotten your Intelligence to 275! Rewards: Your high Intelligence allows you to store items more efficiently giving you +8 Inventory slots.

New Milestone: Intelligence 12 (MAX)

You've gotten your Intelligence to 300! Rewards: One of these three Intelligence Mythical Items: The Glasses Of Marendahl, The Mind Belt, or The Box Of Envy

I smile and choose the Mind Belt as my reward. I did think of getting the Box Of Envy but it sounds like an item you'd use outside of combat, like a Spellbook or Scroll. I'd like an item that'll help me in combat. I Observe my new items and am glad I chose the belt.
